Big East Basketball

Garcia testing the waters, stupid not to. Signs seem to indicated he will be back at MU unless some sort of crazy feedback happens.

Never know truly what kids are thinking, but theres been enough trusted sources around the marquette online contingent that have been confident he wasnt transfering for a while and they all mentioned weeks ago that this draft entry would happen. Based off the way Dawson worded his post, it seems to line up with very slim shot at NBA, otherwise back to MU.

Regardless, at least he didnt pull a McClung and simultaneously do the portal as well.

In other news, appears we will be getting Joplin tomorrow. Again, hope no jinx but lotta smoke about that and the kid already committed to Shaka once, hes local and called playing at MU a dream in the past(Wojo never offered).

Tamar Bates would be the next guy for Shaka to reel back in. Tougher, but still very possible.

Well, Emarion Ellis just followed Shaka to MU.

That helps big time if Bates looks elsewhere, and while Bates is the higher ranked player and really has me giddy it sounds like Shaka personally may of even been more into Ellis. So hopefully he ends up a legit get.

Yep, Big East went from looking like shit to having some decent pull next year.

I can't count how many starters used their 5th year, but it's a bunch.

I'm only wondering how many mid-major schools are getting their 5ths back because it's not publicized. It may be a ton.

Definitely not Creighton.

League should be pretty shitty next year aside from Nova. Providence/Butler/X benefited from guys returning but 2 of those teams were projected to suck and now could be ok. And X who knows, they were a letdown this past year.

Right, not great, but better than it was looking.

UConn kept Whaley too and Seton Hall kept Cale and maybe someone else.

The UConn board is on top of all this shit.

That Creighton team is overrated, they're not gonna do anything they didn't do this year, so I think those guys made a good decision to not run it back.

Yeah its gonna be interesting year. Lots of teams could go either way. Woulda actually been fun(not for you) if Nova had Gillepsie and Samuel leave too. Add a bit more ? to them.

Really have a wide open race.

But probably for the best that we keep 1 dominant team.

@Mr.Hockey what's the background on this recruiting class for Marquette? I noticed they picked up 3 kids in the last 2 days to go along with 2 other kids. We're these guys leaning Marquette, or did they come with Shaka? Good sign to pull a top 20 class with a coaching change.

Haha they all committed to Shaka.

Two of them kinda came out of nowhere though. Ellis and Itejere while being Shaka recruits were not really being talked about much. It was always Joplin and Bates. Joplin was always seen as a lock due to being local and wanting to go to MU for years(Wojo never offered).

What will be interesting now is if Garcia comes back. We got 1 spot open. I'm starting to think Bates may be leaning elsewhere, because as good as he is no way Shaka would change his mind and I think it would be bold rolling with 4 shaka freshman as well as the two Wojo freshman who remain committed.

Would be a very young squad.

Regardless of what Garcia decides(im confident he returns) we are seeing the immediate effects of Shaka over Moser. With Shaka we have to this point lost the 3 seniors with Covid options and 1/3 Wojo recruits. We have kept everyone else and brought in 3/4 of his recruits. That was not happening with Moser.

Edit. We also lost Torrence, but he was gone before Shaka even came.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we just got another transfer lol.

Some guys are definitely about to get recruited over.

Who was this? I missed it tonight.

Kolek the A10 freshman of the year from George Mason. Kid likes to shoot it and we needed a shooter.

Seems like Shaka while trying to make us competitive next year is prioritizing the long term future over short term winning. Complete opposite of Wojo.

Well, thats another player.

LOL

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd Carton is gone.

What dumbass decision.

Woulda made more sense if he randomly transferred to Mercer or something.

Think he was gone regardless of the coaching change.

Think he was gone regardless of the coaching change.

Oh forsure, the coaching change is what had appeared to save it..

It was always said his intention was 1 year. But he was super public and vocal about Shaka and even tried to recruit Rocket Watts here.

O well.

Fantastic article.

We are going to suck this year. No delusion of fandom can change that.

But every single thing I’ve read about this team since Shaka has got his guys has been positive. Of course lot of that are Marquette and/or Big Homers.

I absolutely love what he’s done with the roster without the football school pressure and being able to get his guys.

With how much the BE as a whole took advantage of the Rona year, we should get destroyed. But in two years(maybe even next year) I truly think Shaka will have us in the “if Nova somehow doesn’t win, who does..” category.

How fucking bad must DePaul be? I get they are usually terrible, but they're only up 1 on Coppin State at half, who lost by SIXTY yesterday to Loyola Chicago. Lmaooo

it is always safe to assume that DePaul is going to be awful, b/c it isn't the 1980s anymore and Ron Meyer has been dead for 15 years.

They had a couple respectable seasons in the last couple of years but this is bad even by their standards. Lmao.

The worst major conference school (Power 5 +BE) off the top of my head. Georgia maybe.
