Big Ten Basketball

There aren't any gimmies, but osu is still a good team. I'd be shocked if you only managed 3 more wins. Msu, IU and @psu should be 3 wins right there. Just need one more to feel comfortable.

I really dont think they are as good as their record.

Theres no real "go to player" which probably has a lot to do with the final minutes fuckery in close games. They got lucky not to give that Illinois game away on Saturday too. They just seem to freeze up and nobody wants to be that guy to step up and try to make a big play.

Offense just becomes completely stagnate at times and its usually at the worst times.

They also seem to give up a disproportionate amount of comically wide open 3s on D, It happens in basketball but it seems to happen with these guys way more than normal.

They are pretty good analytically. You guys have really good wins, UCLA, sweep of Rutgers, Illinois. The close losses are concerning, obviously, but I think Washington and Liddell are capable of being go to guys. That's a pretty reliable 1/2 punch. There's just no way I see you guys missing the tournament. Hell a 3-7 finish might be good enough. 14-11 isn't out of the question IMO.

I think 3-7 and OSU is in personally. While there's no gimme games that also means there's really no bad losses either

Some rumors starting to swirl that the league is looking to move some 1 plays to 2 plays for teams to make up games lost due to PSU, MSU and Nebraska Covid issues. Most notably the B10 ( and its TV partners) are looking at adding either a Michigan at Iowa game early next week ( both teams have 8-9 days off after games late this week ) OR an Illinois at Iowa game for Sunday/Monday .

I wish we could schedule OOC games if we lose one because of COVID. There are other P5 teams out there that are losing games. Marquette vs Minnesota would have been perfect because of location and it is a good game for both teams.

Rutgers might just suck

Penn State isn't awful, but this isn't a game you can't afford to lose.

Think they have lost 5 in a row. And one of them was by 23 to MSU who definitely sucks

I think you're right. Now they sit one game above .500. Just like IU if they lose to Iowa tonight. It will be interesting if the committee looks at teams one game above .500 in this weird year. No team one game above .500 has ever made the tournament.

I don't know what the hell I just watched the last 10 minutes of that game but I'm really hoping to not ever see it again. Embarrassing

What a crazy game. I can't Iowa going 10 minutes without a FG but literally no one was making anything. Ah well. On to the next one

Games like that are why I can never, ever get too excited about an Iowa BB team.

Great teams don't have a game like that.

Oh well.

Iowa needs to be better on the defensive end. One bad shooting night in March and they will be toast.

There really are no gimmies especially with this team. Wouldnt be shocked to see them go something like 3-7 in the remaining 10 games.

Hopefully Holtman can manage to keep recruits. That has been gutting the roster.

Like not sure wtf happened with DJ Carton.

Iowa is still a really good team in 2021. I don't think anyone thought they were on the level of Gonzaga/Baylor this year. And there's nothing wrong with that. They still have a great shot to get to a FF, which would be quite the accomplishment at a program like Iowa, which hasn't been there since 1980. IU also isn't terrible.

Iowa played fine on D last night. And honestly they've been fine most of the year ( top 70 in defensive efficiency most of the season ). Last night was really just a fluke kind of dea. 10 minutes of awful shooting will doom pretty much anyone vs a decent team. That said they can't be without Frederick. He provides so much better spacing and is one of their best defenders. Murray is solid but he git 3 quick fouls in the second half which really hamstrung Iowa on offense and defense

I think the Carton situation was just a weird outlier.

PG has been a big issue though. Its been pretty ugly with Walker out.

Next years team could be pretty good but they'll likely have to bring in a decent grade transfer PG to hit the next level. Meechie Johnson could be decent (he reclassified so hes a really young freshmen this year) but they'll need another guy.

Top 70 isn't good enough for a team with Final Four aspirations

It is if you shoot it. I'd rather be top 2 in offense and 70th in D than the other way around. Offebse wins in cbb now. That said it wouldn't hurt to be better on D. While I think last night was an anomaly you probably aren't going to score 90 ppv in March either
