Can we finally call Mike Trout a brittle bitch?

the amount of bad contracts they've had to get a guy next to him. it's not like they haven't tried to have a supporting cast, the decisions have just been shit. his career started off from the jump bad with Hamilton and Pujols. Few years later add Upton, Rendon recently, etc...
It’s been incredible really

They tried. Nobody thought Anthony Rendon would fall off the map after signing. He was considered at worst a top 3 third baseman in the Majors when he signed. I actually bet a little for a chance to win a lot for him to win MVP this year, but looks like it’s a lock to lose a little, though I think the J-Rod ROTY bet will more than off set it

Rendon is really a perfect example of what I was saying. Putting Rendon's performance completely aside, paying Trout big money obviously didn't keep them from offering big money to Rendon and bagging him.

For what it's worth, Rendon has been out for the last 12 games of the current 14 game losing streak. Who knew how huge an impact he was having...

If he never plays again, he’s a first ballot HOFer. He did make the playoffs once.

But at this point, you have to think his best days are long gone with his injury problems
Going to be interesting to see how they handle having both him and Ohtani needing to DH. Wonder if they can extend Trout's time in the OF by moving him to a corner position. Guy was still top 5 in the AL in OPS before this setback.

At this point, you have to move him to LF. Ohtani is too good of a pitcher to risk injury in the OF

Angels have
Ohtani
Trout
Walsh
Ward

But when Trout is hurt 90% of the season it's sort of hard to keep that roster stacked.

The Angels are just a shitty ran organization, 8th highest payroll and they've done fuck all. Then you have the Rays with less that half the Angels payroll being very competitive. Goes to show, it's not about how much money you spend.

good thing there's only four positions in baseball

Shohei is free to go elsewhere very soon.

ESPN and co tells me the Angels win the off-season every year how could this be that they keep sucking?

I'd also start giving him some more games at DH. By no means is he a defensive liability, but I wouldn't say he's adding a lot of defensive value either.

I would add as well that Mr. Trout has not even been placed on the disabled list yet, maybe we should hold off on pronouncing him dead at least until that happens :noidea:

Another overpaid player is Christian Yelich. The guy signs a huge contract and then performs at below average.

Yelich's career path is very weird.

2013-17: .290/.369/.432, 121 OPS+, 59 HR
2018-19: .327/.415/.631, 171 OPS+, 80 HR
2020-22: .231/.349/.384, 100 OPS+, 26 HR

OD is also notorious for proclaiming premature victories.

He's definitely finished

He’s still elite when on the field. He needs to stay on the field to lose the brittle bitch tag. It’s not impossible. Aaron Judge has shaken that label for now

What did he miss with this recent soreness, all of two games?
