I think if DeAndre doesn't get traded, at least for scraps, maybe Watson isn't unhappy. Think that really hurt Watson, DeAndre was his guy...it happens, players get traded but not for scraps. That was ridiculous

Yeah man, it’s shocking it was a player for player no matter how unhappy that player or coach may be. Texans were lucky Obrien didn’t trade Watson for Goff straight up
But the same can be said for Watson no? His pride got hurt and he wants out. Just my opinion is the Texans should stick their guns, make this ugly as hell, fine the hell out of him and maybe they will get a great deal going into the trade deadline next year because of an injury or poor play like the Jets did with the Seahawks.
Something people seem to forget is this isn’t exactly the best draft to load up on picks because of how Covid affected college football, the combine and in person interviews. Sewell didn’t play a snap, got nothing from Lance, Fields looked less than Haskins and we saw how he panned out, Wilson didn’t play real competition.

There is no point in making it ugly if Watson has no future with the organization...why not just move on and start the rebuild? Watson won you 4 games last year and the rest of the team isn't very good, at least defensively. You get the highest value for Watson right now in the offseason, there just won't be as many suitors near the trade deadline bc teams will have less money, simple as that. You either trade him now this offseason or wait until next offseason and put your team and franchise through hell if Watson decides to sit out bc he is still on the team and possibly in that locker room---you don't want that.
Trade him this offseason and get full value for Watson. If the Texans wouldn't traded 2 1st's for Tunsil and go scraps for Hopkins...they could have been even more set up for the future with a Watson trade but this franchise keeps shitting the bed over and over. I'd imagine they trade Watt too if Watson goes.

Miami is best positioned to pull that off but I would put Tua in there in place of the defensive starters and that would give Houston pretty much 3 Ones.

Yeah and there aren't that many teams that fit this bill (at least with this rumor of the 2 defensive starters). I would think their defintion of a defensive starter is a young player with potential on a rookie contract or a player under team control for at least 3 years or so.
Going through teams that have the cap space, need a QB and young talent on defense there isn't a ton to choose from but like you said maybe the Texans fall back a bit from (the two defensive starters) talk and would accept a great offer with a young QB like Tua.
Jets - they easily have the draft capital but really don't have too many impactful defensive starters that are young except Quinnen Williams (doubt they trade him). #1 option for Houston
Dolphins - they seem to have some young pieces on defense and they could throw in Tua plus picks. #2 option for Houston
Other ideas or teams that could have the pieces Houston is looking for
Colts - cap space - check. draft capital - good enough. Bobby Okereke is a young player that has high potential but pretty sure the Colts really love that kid.
Patriots - this is interesting. Cap space and draft capital but would they want a player like Stephon Gilmore? He is 30 and last year of his contract. I think the Pats are more likely to draft a QB or trade for one in the offseason.
WFT - decent picks, cap space...I'm not sure they would be williing to give up players bc I think there rebuild has gone better than expected. They need a QB and weapons...not a likely option.
49ers - the 49ers also a team like the Colts and Dolphins that might be able to throw in some talent on defense plus picks. If the Texans like Jimmy G then that works even more but still not a top option by an means.
Panthers - they were willing to throw the #8 at Stafford. This team is far from ready to compete, at least on defense but still a decent option.
Unrealistic/pipeline dream
Saints - I don't think this happens bc they have don't have any cap space and late round picks but saw an article that dangling Michael Thomas and picks would be an option, he is signed through 2025. Pipeline dream but they could match the 21 salary with Thomas.
Bears - solid defensive pieces, not great picks and would have to match the salary bc they are -$10M to this point.

I don't doubt they get that much for him I just doubt they get those exact pieces for him. I think they could get 2-3 1st's and other picks for Watson but 2 defensive starters?...that could mean a number of things. One veteran and one guy on a rookie contract? It isn't crazy to think they could, just don't know how many options are out there until we hear more.

Absolutely the same can be said about Watson. But Watson is not an organization. His pride will hurt him only. The Texans pride will hurt more then one person. I’m not saying the Texans should take any old offer for him. But the longer they wait for their perceived value for him the more likely that value goes down. All for pride? Fuck that, pride does not win football games.
Most of these picks acquired wouldn’t be for this draft. At best half would be given most teams don’t have two 1’s and two 2’s to offer in one year.

Well wouldn't it piss you off if they traded away your best WR for a chew toy and a tennis ball. Then they invite you to dinner to talk about the future and coaching moves and your input...then you find out from ESPN they hired guys and you didn't even get a heads up. Both sides are to blame and Houston is bad organization, that's all I know.

The Packers didn't discuss coaching moves with Rodgers and then they drafted a QB in the first round. Rodgers didn't demand to be traded.

You make good points and if you look at Roger's he is making comments to put pressure on the Packers as well so maybe this is how the game is just played. We would like for these guys to be professional and handle their laundry behind closed doors but evidently, that is not how this game is played now.
