ActuallyLeach won a NC at OU running the Air Raid.
Leach had already moved on before we won the NC.I heard this and I thought it was pretty good. I will miss some of the coaches. Guys like Snyder, Leach, Patterson, and Gundy. Many will look down their nose at the Big 12, but you were a big part of changing football. Patterson’s 4-2-5 (though started prior to the Big 12). Leach and the conference bringing the Air Raid to the nation. Leach won a NC at OU running the Air Raid. Veer and Shoot is a part of many offenses across the country now. Jon Heacock popularizing the 3 high safety look. Hell Venables went to ISU when he was at Clemson to study it and then ran it in the playoffs. Belicheck ran it vs the Dolphins this year. The odd talent discrepancy forced a lot of innovation.
What is weird about this whole thing to me is how things turned out. Stoops knew from trying to defend Kentucky with Mumme and Leach that he needed to change offensive philosophy. So he brought in Leach, Mangino, etal. Others started sniffing around for Riley a couple of years after Stoops hired him. Stoops thought Riley was ready and time for him to hang it up. And a few years later...............Actually
Leach was the Head Coach at Texas Tech in 2000
Mangino was the OC at Oklahoma for that NC
But I get the point.
Carry on.
Lincoln and Kliff are basically extensions of the Air Raid. You left out the Oklahoma offenses of Lincoln Riley. After he started at OU literally every NFL team came to talk offense with him in the offseason, shame he is a dickhead that can only think on one side of the ball, he’s a genius on offense.
I'm going to let OU claim him and Bama gave up all rights.Hurts is a Bama QB, not an OU product.
It's cute that you want to claim him though.
it's a weird year in the NFL..he looks to be the MVP but he is playing like shit compared to his previous seasonsI'm going to let OU claim him and Bama gave up all rights.
The option days of the Big 8 were incredible to see and I do miss them.It will always be the Big 8/12 to me with heavy emphasis on the Big 8.
Oklahoma's Wishbone offense vs Nebraska's Power I triple option offense for the conference championship and a trip to the Orange Bowl.
I knew the names of Oklahoma's backfield just as good as I knew Nebraska's. I knew Oklahoma's defense names just as good as I knew Nebraska's.
Sooner Magic was coined back then.
It would never happen but if Dobbs keeps up his heroics give the MVP to him because his performances have been nuts. He should be failing spectacularly.it's a weird year in the NFL..he looks to be the MVP but he is playing like shit compared to his previous seasons
even had they stayed together in 2011.. they were going to get picked apart.. too much money is on the table for them to go elsewhere, eventually. The option days of the Big 8 were incredible to see and I do miss them.
However, I never felt like the Big 12 was part of that legacy just as I never felt like the Big 12 was part of the SWC legacy.
I think the sad part is that a conference that had Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and aTm couldn't make it as a viable conference. That is a lineup that should have thrived and should be considered a failure by all parties.
your most recent, best years are still from the Big12 days despite you playing in the BiG for over a decadeDIAF Big 12
go fuck yourself

If they had stayed together and had healthy relationships the money would have been there.even had they stayed together in 2011.. they were going to get picked apart.. too much money is on the table for them to go elsewhere, eventually.

I think there is enough blame to spread around. Texas could have been out voted.just a failure by one party.. who ran the conference and had 10 little bitches to follow it...
yes still bitter
but the actual history starting from OU in the 1984 supreme court to what actually transpired needs to be a movie.
I think there is enough blame to spread around. Texas could have been out voted.
Well if that was the goal then it worked but they paid a huge price for it.The goal by all was to bring Nebraska down.
Even at the cost of cutting off their own noses to spite their faces.
ratings based on today? ehhhhIf they had stayed together and had healthy relationships the money would have been there.
Just think of the ratings thrown away on games like Texas vs aTm, Neb vs OU and everyone else's ratings would have been elevated as well. The money isn't there now because the big draw game inventory is too low. The Big 12 schedule became a snore and its worse now because who wants to see BYU vs Kansas or UCF?
Its a failure.
