I'm on the fence, but leaning towards Switzer right now.

Since there is a head to head on this, lets look.

Switzer had a 12-5 record vs Osborne.

Conference Championships during the head to head
Switzer 12
Osborne 7

National Championships during the head to head
Switzer 3
Osborne 0

This is all that needs to be said.
Unless you are one of those guys who thinks if a Coach is there long enough they will eventually do something.

Barry Switzer On Recruits And Money: “Once They’re In Your Family, You Take Care Of Them”

While selling Keith Jackson, Switzer said he told the tight end from Little Rock that he had Billy Sims and Joe Washington and others in Norman and that he paid them $100 per hour to baby-sit

Tom Osborne was a great coach at a great University. Unfortunately he's matched up against Barry Switzer in this round. But it wasn't until Barry left OU that Tom finally started ruling the conference. It's ironic that Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer are such good friends. Barry campaigned all over Nebraska for Tom Osborne when he was running for Congress. And I remember when Tom Osborne visited the OU preseason pep rallies and he would always get a standing ovation from the OU team and all the OU fans when he was introduced.

The Seminole (Okla.) Producer: Switzer "has outlived his usefullness at the university . . . we lost our admiration of the present Sooner coach over his personal code of ethics. His conduct off the field is cause for shame for all Sooner fans."

Hey, why don't you talk to us about Lawrence Phillips.
You know, 2 weeks after Nebraska won an NC, he pleads guilty to assault charges.

I have been to two Husker fan events with both coaches present.
They are such different people with the utmost respect for each other.
And they tell awesome stories.

Except it isnt a "greatest coach while both are coaching"

Nice try though but Osborne was better.

Barry Switzer told a story at a preseason pep rally in Norman about an incident that happened a few years earlier before a game between OU and Nebraska........and Tom Osborne just sat there shaking his head. When Barry got finished, Tom stood at the podium, looked at the crowd and told everyone he needed to correct a few things about what Barry had just said. Then Tom proceeded to tell the story with some vitally different "facts" than Barry had just presented. Barry just sat there with a huge grin on his face. They both laughed when Tom was finished and the crowd ate it up.

Well obviously Osborne coached longer, but when it's head to head, it's incredibly easy to see which one was better.

Yea osborne peaked later in his career. Rough start great finish :D Osborne > Switzer

And lets not forget that Switzer was playing 2 top 10 programs every single year in Texas and Nebraska, that were actually at the top of their game at the time.

After Switzer left Oklahoma, Osborne did no such thing. When Switzer was there, Osborne got beat like a drum.

playing 2 top 10 programs every single year in Texas and Nebraska,

Your definition of every single year is vastly different than mine.
Texas had 5 total top 10 finishes while Barry coached.
They were unranked 8 times.

Coaches that own other coaches don't lose 3 games in a row to said coach at any point in their career.
