Hell or High Water-8.6

Wind River- 8.1

Love them both. Written by the same guy(he directed WR). I think Hell or High Water flows a bit better and the all 3 main actors knock it out of the park. Wind River is mostly Renner doing the heavy lifting. Olson sister is good but doesnt have much to do and the dad is great but its like two scenes, his role in Hell or High Water is bigger.

Yes, although I think it is called Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind: Contact Has Begun (Same guy as Unacknowledged )

Wild stuff!
Saw both movies a couple weeks ago on Prime.
Been thinking about both ever since and watching a few other UFO/NearDeathExp Documentaries.

Fascinating AF
Are we talking about the same movie?

A Few Good Men.........NOT a Tom Cruise fan,but this movie was awesome....

10 of 10
Probably my favorite movie of all time.

Also, how can you not like Tom Cruise? Dude does so much good stuff.

A Clockwork Orange

9.1

A classic I saw once long ago and needed to get a fresh take on it. I thought it really good.

I saw this once when I was a teenager and have never felt like watching it since. lol

The Skin I Live In

7.9

Film from some big shot Spanish director starring antonio banderas. I can't really go into the plot of this movie at all because if someone is to watch it is best to go in blind. I will say by the time you get to the end of the movie and the story has come full circle it becomes a really unsettling and wild story. Thinking back to some of the scenes during the first part of the movie they take on an entirely different context by the end of the movie. It's so appalling that I can't help but bump the score of it. That said there are parts of the first part of the movie that still make no god damn sense by the end of it. That along with the starting portions of when it jumps back 6 years were just moments of "What the hell am I watching? What is going on here? What the fuck is the plot? What does this 6 month jump to the past have to do with the first part of the movie?"

It probably should get a higher score from me due to it's beaming originality but at the same time it is so fucking weird that I almost have to dock it for points too.

Incendies, which I gave a 8.7 earlier in this thread goes into some taboo directions but The Skin I Live In is just almost a step too far.

Great tits though throughout the movie.

Been on a bit of a Jason Statham binge the last few days.

Hummingbird (aka redemption)
Crank: High Voltage (I was deep in my cup and figured fuck it)
Homefront
Parker
Mechanic
Mechanic: Resurrection (at this point I think i've had my fill of Statham but here I am watching London, which doesn't seem to have him as the main, so it;ll be a nice disappointing end).

Homefront through the first Mechanic are the highlights. watching him fucking people up can be very calming.

appalling? just made it hotter for me...

incendies was was a very good movie as well.

Bandits.

Willis, Billy Bob, Cate Blanchett.

Cate could cook for me any day.

Boys State

So, this is more of a documentary and is kind of a political one. I wanted to get some takes on it, if anyone has seen it, but maybe this is more of a PF thing, which I have no interest in going to, but might for discourse on takeaways. it's essentially a doc about an american legion program present in every state but hawaii if i got it right.

this took place in the texas affiliation. i don't want too get into too much, but i'll say, at the start, i felt like i lost all hope for the future, as it went futher, i was like, the kids might be alright, and at the end i figured we're doomed to the current endless cycle of diminishing returns of what we could be.

I've seen this movie at least 5 times. This is a favorite scene from the movie.

The Last Knights

Clive Owen and morgan Freeman

Sort of King Arthur/Samuri/300 mashup. Interesting plot, likeable heroes, dastardly villains and likeable ladies. Action fight scenes choreographed by top Korean guy. The best I have scene. Total chaos.

Will watch many more times.

8/10

The Little Things

The production is good, the acting is good, but that is kinda where it stops. The character development is pretty much absent even though it seems set up to make strides. The story is a shit show, an absolute let down and a mess. There are literally scenes that serve absolutely no purpose to anything in the movie. Majorly disappointed.

4.5 out of 10.

Massive disappointment. Honestly, don't think its an exaggeration or recency bias when I say it's one of the most disappointing movies this century for me.

You have 3 oscar winning actors one of which is one of the best and most universally loved over the last 30 years. The supporting cast has a bunch of quality character actor types. Its the type of movie that most everyone enjoys(serial killer/myster triller). But it goes absolutely nowhere. Like you said the characters develop basically not at all, the plot is a mess and a bore(bad combo) and I'll put the last part in spoilers...

The supposed "twist" ending that was teased in promos. Was that there was no goddamn ending at all. LOL

Watched "The Dig" last nite. It was kind of slow, there are definitely other movies I would rather have watched.

Mother!

7.7

From the same guy who made Reqrium for a Dream, Pi, The Wrestler, Black Swan and a few others. Reading the IMDB movies last night I have never seen so many 1 star reviews with a very passionate hate for a movie. People were so appalled by this that it made me really want to watch it.

While there are some troubling scenes I don't quite understand all the hate. I also didn't really understand the plot all that much. When all hell starts to break loose in the last 45 minutes or so it is actually really entertaining.

You get to see Jennifer Lawrence's tits but she doesn't offer much more beyond that despite being the lead.

Nocturnal Animals

7.8

Saw this movie once years ago after it was released on DVD. Completely forgot the plot so it was like watching the movie again. Interesting movie, well styled. Nothing too ground breaking though and acting a bit cheesy at parts.

After reading up on a lot of the meanings of it I bump the score to an 8.1

It was recommended to me by somebody who the last time I saw him in person he had ABBA playing loudly on his car stereo.
