I've been thinking about gravity feed masterbuilt, they use charcoal instead of pellets and get to higher temps. But I'd break my self imposed rule of no plug in outdoor cookers

Whatever we get next is going to be stored in the pole barn. Hopefully not being exposed to the elements most of the year will help it last longer.

Our electric smoker also took so much power that it’d blow fuses constantly. Wasn’t nearly as user friendly as I had hoped.

biggest difference from a modern rifle is a longer hold on the target. Still pretty fucking accurate... you just only have one shot. Should be all that's needed anyway.

if you want set and forget, I'd look at Pellet or Gravity feed, both work well in those regards, but I have no hands on experience. I doubt they draw as much power as an electric

I’m okay with monitoring it if I have the time like I did yesterday. But that’s rare. So if I want to smoke anything, it’s almost always going to be something set and forget.
 
We found out our kids are proposed to be rezoned to new schools within our district. The schools are still good, but it would be a pain in the ass to switch.

Have to love forced changes to long-term plans.
