More GA Drama, This Time Involving Jalen Carter

nfl goes for ceilings not floors.. they will take a guy with question marks if he flashes eliteness

The media loves mocking by position need, too. Everybody had us taking Malik Willis at 2 last year.

This year nobody is mocking QB to us.

LOL that was hilarious. I can't believe people really thought he was a top 10 pick.

It scared the shit out of me because at the time, it really felt like if anybody would use the no.2 pick on a project QB from Liberty — it would be the Lions.

When we traded back up to 12 I thought it was for him.

Not taking him at all was actual progress for our organization.

Think you guys are gonna stay with Goff long-term? He seems like he's having a bit of a rebirth and clicks well with the offense.

I really don’t know. I think all this Lamar Jackson to Detroit talk has some legs to it. If that doesn’t happen then I’m expecting us to draft Hendon Hooker — maybe trading back from 18 or trading up from round 2 back into the end of the first to him and get that 5th year.

Goff has two years left on his deal. Do I think he’s our QB three years from now? Right now I don’t. If they don’t land Lamar and don’t use an early pick on a young QB, then he must be their guy. Find out soon.

I think Goff is our present QB, but won't be our future QB. I can see us drafting someone to sit a year behind him. Wouldn't be surprised if Anthony Richardson dropped we drafted him or Will Levis. Not thrilled with either, but both have elite qualities and NFL bodies. Teams are infatuated with trying to find the next Josh Allen -- a guy with elite qualities but struggled to put it together in college.

I think if Goff puts up another year like he did last year -- I could see us keeping him though. People are sort of waiting for the bottom to fall out, but our OL and running game will make a lot of QBs look good.

If you guys draft AR or Levis, you will be clamoring for Goff to be your starter. I think Levis = Jake Locker and AR = Terrelle Pryor. Neither of them is gonna play QB for long in the NFL.

Levis is the guy I really don’t want. Also not crazy about AR but I wasn’t crazy about Lamar or Hurts either and would take both now.

Perfectly acceptable by life long penal colony residents.

If I had to commit to guess today — I think we take a tackle at 6. Prob the Northwestern kid. With Decker aging, Ragnow battling injuries, Jonah Jackson contract up next year and questions at RG, seems very logical we take a future tackle.

Sewell will get a monster contract soon, too. Gotta keep this team strength strong.

I don't think either of them is a good comparison. They both are really athletic like AR, but they also showed the ability to perform in college and just needed some tweaking. This guy was a disaster as an actual passer. I can't see him even being ready for probably 2 years or so.

I was about to post the same thing ... Hurts was a 65% passer in college, but Jackson was only 57%. That surprised me. AR15 was 54.7. Now I see why some teams think he is worth a flyer ... they are thinking they can turn him into Jackson. In the NFL, Jackson is 63.7. I still think it's dumb, but I can get it a little bit more now. That's a lot of improvement.

For comparison, Fields is 59.7. Hurst is 62.3. Fields was 68.4 in college, so he's gone backward.

To be fair, I'm not sure any QB was gonna be completing close to 68.4% of their passes for the Bears last year.

With AR, my concern is he hasn't shown any kind of growth. Lamar's completion percentage and rating improved markedly from his first season as a starter to his last, when he was at 60%. AR started some games in 2021 then took over full-time last year and his numbers got worse. He's also nowhere near Lamar in terms of rushing ability, or Fields/Hurts for that matter. He had 654 yards on 103 carries, but 231 of those yards came on 4 carries. That means otherwise, he had 99 carries for 423 yards. That doesn't scream special athlete to me.

IMO he is, at very best, a 4th/5th round talent that could eventually become decent but not for several years.

I agree ... I think anyone is an idiot for taking AR15, but it does make a little more sense to me. They are looking at Josh Allen (56.2%), Jackson, and other athletic QBs and figuring they can make them that. In the NFL, the best way to win a super bowl is to have really good QB on a rookie contract. They are all looking for lightening in a bottle.

It's too bad, he's going to cost at least 2-3 people their current jobs most likely. This dude isn't meant to come in and win a SB any time on his rookie contract. I wasn't huge on Jordan Love, but I like him 10x as much as AR and we've seen that he still has a ways to go. AR needs to go to a team like Seattle where he can sit for at least 2 years and learn how to play the position.

Must have done something bad for the Raiders to take you off their board.

Fuck your paywall link.

Anyway, might have a little something to do with driving too fast and bad things happening. Henry Ruggs says hi
