It's kind of interesting to me. Right now you have 5 and 5, so they went with 6 which guarantees one G5 per year. So, a lot depends on what happens with the PAC in the next few months.
- Even if they get the same money as the B12, they aren't going to get the exposure. It will be so easy on the recruiting trail to say, "do you really want your games on Apple TV or ION TV? Come here and you will be on ESPN every week where everyone can easily watch you." You are nuts if you don't think that will make a difference for many players.
- Ore and UDub are playing a risky game. By flirting with the B1G, or not wanting to sign a GOR, they are telling everyone else they aren't really in the conference and will jump at their first opportunity. If I am one of the corner schools I'd say screw that. I can get the same deal, if not better, better exposure, in a league that will be here for a while. We may not get SEC/B1G money, but we will have a solid league with teams that for better or worse no one else wants. They have a bright, young, aggressive commissioner. They will always have a place at the CFP table.
- Or, go with a league with 2 teams that want out from day 1, and 2 teams that no one cares about - SMU and SDSU.
Gun to head, I'd say the PAC isn't going to make it and we will have 4 P5s, 5 G5s. If that is the case, I think they drop the AQ count to 5.
The ACC and the B12 will survive, but will be way behind on revenue.
