PAC News

Notice no actual financial number has been released so we have no idea what the bottom number is or what the "strong upside" is. Basically all we know is that the deal is primarily a streaming deal through Apple and evidently the PAC is going to need to hit some type of subscription number to get incentives.

Its hard to make an assessment without actual numbers but I can't imagine the PAC ADs are excited about not being on network TV from an exposure point and then having to attempt to sell subscriptions to the fanbase.

This just feels like the nail in the coffin.

I think the Big Ten's calculations change if the PAC falls apart/isn't viable. And the Big Ten is definitely going to expand past 16 eventually. With or without ND
I think this is true. There have been some rumblings that the B1G didn't want any more PAC blood on their hands. They didn't want to be the ones to fully kill a conference. Evidently, they are good with wounding it so badly it's mostly dead, they just don't want to be on record with the kill strike. So, now that PAC is going to die of self-inflicted wounds, I think they will be cool in taking Ore and UW, maybe Cal and Stanford (although not likely).

Not sure what is gonna happen. Man for those teams left over…. Dayum

I think that's a wrap on the PAC. I could be wrong, nobody is reporting the numbers so it's hard to tell.
Yeah, this is the nail in the coffin:

1. No numbers, because they really can't because no GOR and no one knows who is going to be in the conference.

2. The deal on the table is 100% streaming - no one wants that as it restricts visibility - "hey, I know you want to play at Oregon, but if you go there your games will be on Apple+. Do you have Apple+? No? Yeah, no one else does either. We are on ESPN and Fox, ever heard of them? Yeah? All your games are going to be on ESPN and Fox. And people like Herbstreit and McAfee and Finebaum and Tebow will be talking about you all the time if you play here."

3. As soon as Arizona announces it's over ... everyone for themselves, heading to the lifeboats.

Yeah, I think so too. But I would put it at probably 2030/31 at the earliest IMO. At that point, if it's inevitable I think ND joins along with 3 current PAC schools.

Agreed. That's been the problem the whole time IMO. There's no real offer because Oregon and Washington aren't going to commit to a GOR that prevents them from leaving. Networks have no incentive to engage with a conference when they don't know what they're bidding for. That's why all the linear options bailed IMO.

Arizona is off to the Big 12. If the Big Ten comes and takes Oregon and Washington, then the Big 12 probably takes ASU and Utah as well. If the Big Ten waits, Oregon and Washington will go to the Big 12. But I'm starting to really think the Big Ten is going to take UO/UW now if the PAC falls apart. It's going to be harder to add them in 2031 if they join the Big 12. Now Oregon and Washington will take any offer and there's nothing preventing them from leaving the PAC.

That's my read.

I get the options were probably limited, but lmao! All the upper level Pac 12 conference people should get the axe for this being their attempt to "save the conference"

Pretty sure that’s going to happen anyway.

P12 can't get on TV, meanwhile FOX is gonna broadcast a Womens Volleyball game this season.

most people who are subscribed to apple don't give a damn about CFB..much less Pac12 football

I have a sub to Apple+ but only because it came with pretty much any iDevice you buy. I think I have a free year with an iPad I bought. That said, there are some good shows on it. That's not the problem, though.

Soooo nothing official yet?

damn so after SC/UCLA took off.. Bowlsby met with GK in person about a merger.. they turned it down.. again (tried to do a merger when UT/ou left).. Word is that GK agreed to do it now and the Big12 said no thank you lol

No after ut and ok announced they were leaving bowlsby asked if pac wanted to merge GK said no because usc said no.
Then after USCLA announced their departure GK reached back out to BigXII and they said no at that time.

This sounds logical to me.

Big 12 reaches out to the PAC 12 after Texas and Oklahoma say “adios”. PAC 12 says “No thanks. You aren’t near as good looking without those two.”

PAC 12 reaches out to the Big 12 after USC and UCLA tell them “adios”. Big 12 says, “No thanks. You aren’t very good looking without those two either.”

Both were idiots. The Orphaned 8 are a lot better looking than what the PAC 12 is looking at now. And the PAC 12 leftovers are damn sure better looking than UCF, Cincy, BYU and Cougar High!!!!

USC: Add any of the Big 12 schools and we're leaving.

PAC: Ok, we won't add anyone.

USC: We're leaving anyways

I hate to say it but USC played the conference and left everyone else in a really bad spot.
