Playoff LOLs

Only faggots want this to happen
I wanted the BCS system. I hate the playoff. But now that we're here, there's only one final solution to all of this and it's likely two very large conferences (SEC/B10) with a second league and champion splitting off to form another CFB entity.

The ACC is a dead conference walking, they just don't know it yet. As soon as the contract is up keeping teams like Clemson and FSU there, they're gone.

dismal tv ratings for the first round of the playoffs....

Tenn-OSU on ABC/ESPN: 6.3
Indiana-ND on ABC/ESPN: from Fri: 5.7
Clem-Tex on TNT Sports: 3.6
SMU-Penn St on TNT Sports: 3.1

Guess ND will finally join a conference then.
Nah. They’ll still make an exception for them. Their viewership numbers are worth it for the B1G and SEC to put up with them. Not so for the others.

The first two are worse than dismal. The last two are dismal.

Just wait until the j00s have their own college…y’all will be (insert Hasidic for ‘fucked’ term here).

Makes sense, most of these games were over in the 1st quarter.

I'm guessing early afternoon games on TNT arent ever going to be a big hit the Saturday before Christmas.

SMU/Penn St and Clem/Tex going head-to-head against the NFL in the 12 pm and 3 PM timeslots didn't help matters.
Not to mention the games were on TNT and not on broadcast tv.

If I were king, things would be different, but alas, I am not the king.

1) Eliminate conference championship games.
2) 16 team playoff with no automatic spots.
3) No byes. The home atmosphere was awesome at Ohio State (despite the ESPN spin). Same with ND, TX and PSU. The top 4 were robbed of that experience.
4) Seeding top to bottom 16.
1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, etc.
5) Quarter finals are the NY bowl games.
6) Semi's the next Saturday (reasonable spacing, this year it's 10 days; should be no less than 8 and no more than 13).
7) Final in 2 weeks.

LOL at having debates in the LOL thread

There was more Tennessee fans then there shoulda been there, this was probably due to a leaked early access code that allowed them to scoop up tickets. The announcers were trying to make it seem like it was 50/50 though lol it was 70/30ish still at best.

The big 12 and ACC are still solid hoops conferences. Hoops revenue is enough of a thing that it keeps them at the table.

"The Longhorns’ win, which peaked with 9.5 million viewers, delivered the largest college football audience opposite the NFL in four years — since the 2020 ACC and SEC Championship games, which were pushed back two weeks due to COVID and aired opposite a pair of NFL games on NFL Network."

Yea, real dismal.

That’s why some bad football schools will get absorbed into the big ten and SEC eventually.
