She would have cleared 2 million easily in NIL if she had stayed. Plus can you imagine the season long story they would have has she chased her title dreams? Omg, ESPN would have had a field day. Then the Women's NCAA Tournament would have been all about Iowa and Clark's career journey.

Instead she went to the WNBA and my guess is by the end of this season and then into next season, the spark and excitement and interest just won't be there and this becomes a flash in the pan story.

She didn't take anything from Iowa's collective. This has been reported on a bunch. All her NIL deals(State Farm etc.) are still happening in the WNBA. Whatever she's making in endorsements now, it would have been the same in college.

She's making $3.5 million/yr from Nike. And probably a million or two from State Farm. With everything she's probably getting close to $6 million dollars.

Yeah, I get most of the league is jealous of her, it's why they are acting the way they are acting. It's pretty dumb to be honest. She's the main reason why they will be making more money in the future, and have better perks.

Her career is 10 games in. She'll be fine. Obviously she's not going to replicate what she did in college. There's a reason the Fever had the #1 pick. They were terrible.

She's one of the more marketable athletes in sports right. Given her stature, she's probably underpaid, if we're being honest.

What the rest of the league needs to get over themselves and realize is Caitlin has raised the bar for the entire league.

National interest is at an all time high and with that comes $$ both to the league and eventually to players.

Her popularity would've been enormous. It'll start dwindling slowly but surely as this WNBA season goes on, as her team is terrible, and by midway through next season she will be forgotten.

Once the drama dies down the WNBA will be forgotten once again. The only reason it is getting any attention is the intrigue to see what Clark can do and the fighting. Well Clark's team is bad and the drama can't last forever or it will start to get boring and repetitive.

The underlying problem with the WNBA, which has always been the case, is the product is terrible. I saw a "professional basketball player" miss a wide open layup as she went to do a jump stop and shoot as the layup, as opposed to a smooth continued motion. I also saw a player throw the ball to the opposite team on a inbound pass who wasn't even playing defense.

It's some bad basketball.

She's still very popular, and I don't see that stopping. Either way, she's not losing money by being in the WNBA. She's for sure making $76K more than she otherwise would have since she wasn't getting that from Iowa/NIL Collective.

I admittedly have only watched her games in the league, it hasn't been pretty, she and her team are terrible. If they get the #1 pick again, it'd be interesting with her and Bueckers.

Yes at the moment still very popular because of the season and drama from the NCAAW season and tournament. But this is going to flutter away in a year. I could see it by next season the first week or two it is super hyped by ESPN as they try to ignite the interest again, but I don't see it sticking. By then this will all be old news.

The overall product game to game is just way too bad to hold interest. Right now the only thing keeping it afloat is the cheap shots on Clark and the drama amongst the league. No one is watching because of the quality of play.

No, but promotion of it sure is. This follows the "no such thing as bad press" that idiots like Donald Trump, Chrissy Teigan and Keith Olbermann subscribe to.

The WNBA has a singular mission (the same one it's had for the last 27 years): to generate enough interest that the league finally becomes profitable. How it gets there is incidental.
