Scenario Village Game

H2H only matters as a tiebreaker.

Committee is going to put Bama over Texas this week...and Texas won't pass them up unless Bama loses.
Why play the game if H2H isn’t gonna matter? That literally gives people zero incentive to play these OOC games.

They did the same shit in 2016 with Penn State and Ohio state.

So you acknowledge the committee has shown that they value other things more than H2H.

Glad you finally see the light.

Why is OU ranked below UT?

If H2H is all that matters...
They’ve lost more games.
When the records are the same in P5 and both are champs, and the other team beat you directly, especially by double digits, especially especially in your own house… that team better get deference outside of some extremely special circumstances… and nothing of the like exist.

Texas keeps scraping by against bad teams.

They look demonstrably worse.

The H2H tiebreaker no longer applies.

Furthermore, Texas has no elite opponents left. Bama just waxed a top 10 team.

Bama would get in over Texas.

Texas may have the H2H, but it matters when and how you lose and win.

Bamas only loss would be to a solid Texas team early in the year, that last part is big. Everyone understands that teams are typically worse in the beginning of the year and get better as they go. Bama would have also finished the season by essentially knocking out the back to back reigning champ in a conference title game. More important contender and more important venue.

Bama would also have the stronger record. Texas almost lost to Houston, KSt, and TCU. Bama almost lost to Arkansas and A&M. Bama has top wins over Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU and in this scenario Georgia as well. Texas should they win out would have ranked wins against KSt and Oklahoma.... a team they lost to earlier in the year and everyone knows its always difficult to beat the same team twice in a year. Not to mention that it isn't like Oklahoma is undefeated, they have lost twice as well which doesn't help Texas.

I'm not trying to hate on Texas, it's just a fact. Losing at the beginning of the year has always been better than losing at the end. Bama lost earlier than Texas and would have finished the season with a massive win, bigger than any Texas has.

Y’all are idiots.
Beating different teams while looking better isn’t special circumstances at all. Those “better” wins don’t negate a team directly beating you, especially by double digits, especially especially in your own house.
Special circumstances would have to be something like caught cheating, or QB1 gets knocked out for the season in the CCG.

Texas beat Bama by double digits in Tuscaloosa.
Not only is that a moral imperative, it’s literally written into the guidelines of the CFP.
That’s it. QED.

You're setting yourself up for massive disappointment.

Don't say we didn't warn you when Bama jumps you.

Haven't we seen the committee ignore head to head in prior years? This wouldn't be a novel situation.

Once you lose a game you lose the ability to state your case so conclusively that they have no other option.

Bama for sure could jump Texas under the right circumstances.

Texas fans aren't used to paying attention to the CFP rankings, since they've usually been eliminated in the middle of October.

Here is how it will end:

1) UGA
2) Michigan/tOSU
3) UW/UO
4) FSU

I assume those are not in order.
Yes - why not? When UGA beats Bama again that will solidify the #1 seed. The winner between tOSU/Michigan game will be #2. The winner of the UW/UO game will leap over FSU.

I think winner of b1g is 1.

Ohio St is already ahead of UGA

They are right now in the last cfp rankings. AP and coaches have moved UGA #1, but their rankings doesn't mean shit. UGA just finished beating a cfp top 10 team. More than likely, the cfpc will move UGA back to #1. Maybe not, but I think they will.

An undefeated Washington could leap frog FSU, but a one loss Oregon is not going to jump over an undefeated FSU.

They did in 2014.

College Football Playoff Rankings (Final)

1. Alabama, 12-1
2. Oregon, 12-1
3. Florida State, 13-0
4. Ohio State, 12-1

Don't put too much emphasis on the record. It's who the committee thinks is best. If they think Oregon is demonstrably better than FSU, they'll get jumped.

He is in for such disappointment. We are talking about the guy who thinks his schedule is going to get easier next year in the SEC.

It did for TAMU when they went over. Fact.

Also, we beat Bama in Tuscaloosa by double digits, and we’re discussing the scenario where they are SEC champs.
Nice arguments, dunces.
