Yeah, he was a goofball who always claimed Oklahoma was in the Southeast. Truth is, Oklahoma is mostly "Southwest" but it's a strange state. The part of Oklahoma up along the Kansas border (Alfalfa, Major, Woods, etc. counties) is sometimes called Lapland by the Old Timers because they say that is the part of the state where Kansas laps over into Oklahoma. Even Tulsa has a much different vibe than Oklahoma City. A lot of the news in Tulsa is about the local area and some OKC news but a lot of it is Arkansas news and weather reports. Oklahoma was a perfect fit for the Big 8, Big XII and now the SEC. Most OU fans never felt any affinity for the Big 10 and it was always so-so for getting involved with those hippies/commies/Antifa/sophists on the West Coast by joining the Pac 12. The perfect fit was when the Big 12 ran from Lincoln all the way to College Station. But that is history and it's sad to think we've all grown so far apart.
