Movie The Batman (2022)

It was less than three years ago that Todd Phillips’ mid-budget but mega-successful “Joker” threateningly pointed toward a future in which superhero movies of all sizes would become so endemic to modern cinema that they no longer had to be superhero movies at all. With Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” — a sprawling, 176-minute latex procedural that often appears to have more in common with serial killer sagas like “Se7en” and “Zodiac” than it does anything in the Snyderverse or the MCU — that future has arrived with shuddering force, for better or worse. Mostly better.

3 hours?

Did I know that?

This thing better be hailed as the greatest movie ever made (by a BIG margin) if they expect me to watch that amount of Sparkleman.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous reasons for a critic to declare a Batman movie rotten: :L

Performances were emotional and raw in The Batman, but you're gonna get a very broody Batman that never smiles. The Batman is not kid friendly for younger ones.

she writes for a website called Lola Lambchops and the title of her review is "Is The Batman Kid Friendly?"

I imagine that is a big part of why she gave it 2.5/5

don't be so reactive to a simple review

Director Matt Reeves and brooding star Robert Pattinson see the Caped Crusader as more film-noir detective than comic-book hero in their mesmerizing mindbender that aims high even when it misses the mark. Its a grenade of pure cinema ready to blow.

TOP CRITIC

This is a moody, atmospheric and at times genuinely creepy flick, with some top shelf performances and a couple of surprising and quite subversive moments in the final act.

I know there will be plenty of people who feel they are burned out on all things Batman. That there couldn't possibly be room for yet another retelling of this same old tale. But "The Batman" defies the odds. It's epic, mythic, pulpy blockbuster filmmaking at its best.
-Chris Evangelista, /FILM: 9/10

Director Matt Reeves’ ambitious and excellently crafted “The Batman” more than justifies its existence as a world-building wonder that slathers a realistic grime across its Gotham City, a metropolis filled with familiar yet refreshing takes on its iconic coterie of heroes and villains. And at the center of it all is Robert Pattinson, the latest actor to don the famous cape and cowl, who brings a grungy, broody brawn to an emotionally conflicted Caped Crusader.

Looks like I won't be red boxing it after all. Something happened and tickets fell into my lap for tomorrow

Just saw it opening (Thursday) night.

This is one of the greatest movies of all time.

That's a big endorsement.

Im not going that far(definitely not better than Dark Knight for me)

But it is a very great movie. So much set up for the future too. And acting was outstanding.

Another Batman movie?

How do the critic scores end up on RT? Does the site pick them up or are they submitted? Either way they should screen out such reviews because they aren’t relevant, but if it’s the latter she should be shamed for submitting it.

It’d be cool if it released on HBO same day… I’m gonna give it a negative review because it didn’t.

Did you give me a facepalm for pointing that out or are you facepalming the review being for a children's site?

That kind of review being part of the aggregate score.

Jesus, everyone’s all sensitive today.
Not sensitive, was just cornfused.

I got two facepalms for that post and wasn't sure what I said that was facepalmable.
