Movie The Batman (2022)

Just saw it opening (Thursday) night.

This is one of the greatest movies of all time.
I am going to have to disagree with you there. It isn't bad, but I wouldn't even call it the best Batman movie. It definitely has a noir vibe, but in terms of dark.... it's only really dark insomuch that it's literally dark. Pattinson was as I expected, he is a good Batman and a weird Bruce Wayne. I will say that it is purposeful though. This Bruce Wayne is not meant to be like any of the others. This Bruce Wayne has carried a grudge his whole life since his father died. Jeffrey Wright was... Jeffrey Wright. Am I the only one that feels like he is some variation of the same character in every movie, he feels type-cast to me.

I will say that Paul Dano is just absolutely excellent. Dude is such an underrated actor, from There Will Be Blood to Prisoners to this, he's just good. Farrell was good too, whoever did those prosthetics did a great job and that is an awesome take on a realistic Penguin and Riddler.

I oddly left feeling that there was so much yet so little at the same time. Also, don't wait for the post credit scene. It is 3 seconds long and not worth waiting for.

Was that supposed to be the Joker talking with Riddler in the next cell?

As far as the spoiler, yes.

I really enjoyed it. Felt like the 90's cartoons. A more detective focused Batman grounded in reality. It dragged a little in the final hour but was still a very good Batman movie that stands on its own and will be in the conversation for best in the series.

I really liked the scenes showing Batman fighting, thought those were really well down. Catwoman was really hot, reminded me of a young Natalie Portman only a Hispanic or half black one whatever this girl was.

Call it recency bias but I’d probably put this at no. 2 behind The Dark Knight. It’s definitely in the top 3 of Batman films.

I think I would put it at #3.... on par with Batman Begins.

This probably deserves a spoiler protection so here it goes

If you put the url from the movie into your web browser it takes you to a cipher. There is actually a coded message. My son tried it after seeing the movie. He’s trying to figure It out now. I said I bet it ends up telling him to drink more Ovaltine.

Hard to rank it when I just saw it today. Will change I'm sure after I get to re-watch it when it is released on 4k blu ray in a few months.

1. The Dark Knight
2. The Batman
3. Batman Begins
4. The Dark Knight Rises
5. Batman Returns
6. Batman
7. Batman Forever
8. Batman & Robin
9. Batman V Superman

Ok, everyone is entitled to their own opinion... but Batman and Robin over Batman V Superman?

I mean, bro, c'mon.

If I had to rank em right now, I suppose it would look like this...

The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
The Batman/Batman Begins
Batman V Superman
Batman Forever
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman & Robin

Of course, I find it difficult to put Batman V Superman in there with the others as the others are exclusively Batman and BVS is more of a JL prequel.

I don't see a key, are you supposed to use the one given in the movie?
I don’t j is exactly. He said there is one but maybe he meant it’s the same one from the movie. I do t know if he’s still playing around with it TBH

Well, I didn't look too hard either lol.

I thought Batman V Superman was really really really bad. I did not like any of the Snyderverse DC movies that came out. Thank god they are at least getting Batman away from all of that.

It wasn't good and the whole "Martha" angle was dumb as absolute fuck, but it wasn't bad followed by that mean "really"s lol.

Oh and one last critique about the movie... I could have done without the nonsensical 'white privilege' line of dialogue. Hard eyeroll on that nonsense.
Yeah. Hollywood just can’t help itself.

Yeah and it just didn't within the movie naturally. Earlier, in the funeral scene, Bruce overheard and stared at that white guy talking about how the rich are the problem. Instead of 'white privilege' they should have gone with 'class privilege' or classism. At least that would have fit within the feel of what the film had already established. Probably could have done without any of that altogether, but just sayin lol.
