The Stormlight Archive

I am on day 2...reading pretty slowly as well. The library is going to try to take the book from me, but turned the Kindle to airplane mode. That will show em!

I am about halfway through Day 7. My son is a day ahead of me right now, we've been jockeying a bit.

He is slowly teasing a lot of things out.

For some reason, I also decided now would be a good time to finally read Warbreaker. So that's my take-along for the subway, and W&T is for when I get home.

I have that on my shelf as well but have not read it. Maybe I will do the same at some point this year

I have some good classic fantasy novels I want to read this year

I'm up to Day 9. Wow. Some big reveals, but still wondering how he's going to finish

On Day 3 with Adolin doing his fighting thing and Szeth and Kaladen doing their thing in Szeth's hometown.

Adolin and Maya are becoming favorites for me...hope I don't regret that.

trying to tie it all back to the cosmere from other books is a challenge. Like, I know Kelsier is somewhere in all this but I am not exactly sure where...and should I be tying Ruin and Preservation into all this to go with Cultivation, Odium, and Honor?

also they mentioned Warbreaker, which I haven't read yet

Not all of that is clear to me yet, either.

I do know how Kelsier figures in Stormlight, but it doesn't make sense to me. I won't spoil it.

Some cool off-worlder cameos take place in the Interludes

ohhh am I going to see a Tress of the Emerald Sea somewhere in this one?

Finished yesterday.

Not sure I like the ending.

I read this morning that Stormlight 6 won't be out until 2031. Between now and then, Brandon's going to put out 6 or 7 other books, including 3 more Mistborns, 2 Elantris sequels, and possibly a Warbreaker sequel. I think he's going to try and tie up some loose ends between all the cosmere planets. The 3 Mistborns are going to be about the Ghostbloods, so I assume that will take place prior to Way of Kings. The Warbreaker sequel would also take place prior to WoK and should explain how Vasher/Zahel comes to Roshar. Going to repost this in the Sanderson thread.

it's almost annoying that he is monopolizing so much of my reading time. I love his stuff, but he is flooding the market and making it really hard.

I need a new Dresden Files to cleanse my palette.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm hooked now, so I have to read all his stuff to see how it ties together, if at all. I just requested the first Wax and Wane because I've got to get ready for those three Ghostblood books.

And I'm still only about halfway through the Dresden Files, plus there's been dozens of recommendations in the "What are you reading" thread that I've been wanting to check out. Just not enough time.

there really is just too much out there these days.

I have Wax and Wane to read as well...but not sure when that is going to happen.

I want to read Jade City sometime this year too...I have heard good things.

same with an Anthony Ryan series...not sure which one though.

also need to read Joe Abercrombie's Red Country to finish that "series"

got a hard copy of Wind and Truth from the library but not finding a lot of time to get into it just yet. Sitting around halfway done it

on to Day 7....just moving through this beast of a book.

it's very interesting to see how Sanderson looks at it from the god perspective...like the characters of the books are just pawns. I am enjoying that.

I'm on the last book of Wax and Wayne, and I also checked out Yumi and the Nightmare Painter and The Sunlit Man

I have the Wax and Wayne series to read still...Yumi and Sunlit as well.

I haven't read Warbreaker or Elantris either.
