Excuse my naivety on the subject....

but my 401(k) annualized rate of return is like almost 21%......isn't that like really good?
Really good. Where are the assets allocated? Asking for a friend who is not getting 21%.

Are they trying to imply something here?

Da hell do they listen to?
I can't even explain much of what they listen to. My son is really into techno & synth stuff but he has different names for it. My daughter listens to some pop but mostly she likes broadway soundtracks. Then they started listening to these self-promoted artists on instagram and tiktok

hehehe... same. I only remember that phrase when I had someone looking at muh stuffs. I know it has something to do with when you think you can retire and you can change the year about something or other. I think I have mine mixed between 2040, 2045 and something else. Or not. Can't remember. But it mixes your allocations based on the number of years you're funding. I have no idea what I'm saying. My fingers just keep typing, so there's that.

That sounds like a "Targeted Retirement" account based on when you could apply for Social Security, but I thought you were younger than that.

Usually accounts like that change over time: they start off very aggressive when you're younger (because you can absorb losses and you have more time to accrue big gains), and then they gradually get more conservative the closer you get to your retirement age. Most places have them in 5-year increments, so maybe the 2050 is just the closest year to when you can file.

They really should be teaching that shit in schools......instead of that stupid shit that @gobigred teaches

Awww, pobrecita...you are mostly correct, though. The funding mix changes based on your age/distance to retirement.

Yea pretty much everything you said is the extent of my knowledge on the subject. lulz

I'm 32...it has a retirement age of 65 on there and an "aggressive" 86/14 under investment style. I'm putting about 12% of my money in, the company is matching me 6% and giving 4% on top of that.

Good, anytime the employer matches, try to get as much from them as you can. Also being single and young, putting away as much as your budget can tolerate is the best thing. I used to put in the max before I got married.

He also should not knock up any chicks and if he gets married, to get a prenup.

Word.

It sucks. And this dog goes extra nuts because she’s not getting enough exercise. How long have the effects been lingering? Everyday, I wake up and I’m like- hey! I feel kinda decent! Then, two hours later, I’m sitting at my desk like, ugh. I need to lay down.

She finished quarantining on Dec. 19th. At Christmas, she was still pretty much at the stage you're at.

She was hosting Christmas, but was still so tired that she almost canceled it. But the rest of us kind of took over so she had to do very little. She's doing better now, but she's still probably only at about 80-90% of what she's used to.

They seem impervious to all forms of classical music. I have exposed them to orchestral, big band, jazz, blues, reggae, and classic rock and they reject almost all of it. I do not subject them to country music, though my daughter does like Taylor Swift.

Every now and then they'll hear a song and say they like it, but it doesn't translate into a greater appreciation of the particular genre.

My kids were raised listening to my music. I remember my son being 3 years old and singing along to BB King. lol

The only "kids cd" that I ever bought for them was one that had artists like Little Richard, Bob Seger, etc. doing kids songs.

They have both thanked me for that because, since they of course also developed their own tastes in current music, they have a pretty wide range of music that they listen to.
