tOfficial “Weed Growers” Thread

Hell, when I was a kid it was $35/lb

Basically $40 for a 4 finger sandwich baggie. You could fold it once. I didn't need to see it on a scale to know it was an oz.
I could tell if it was good by smell.

We wore bell bottoms, so the parents couldn't tell it was in our sock. LOL

I grew up in this era...

We'd roll some big fatties with Mexican when I was a kid.

Still my favorite way to smoke, but anymore I just do one hitters or some damn good gummies.
We BUILT joints. lulz

I'm not sure your age, but when I was a kid in the 70's we always had seeds in our weed whether it was Mexican, Columbian, or even Tai-Stick.

Only in the last 15 years or so have I gotten quality weed that doesn't have seeds.

This was a trash burn pile (fire pit). I've cleaned it up considerably, but after a rain it washes the top soil off and exposes more pieces of trash that make their way to the surface. I'm just guessing the MJ seeds were too deep in the soil to germinate and after top soil gradually washes away they get close enough to the surface to germinate.

I don't think it's hemp (ditchweed) because there's not any growing anywhere else here on this property that I've seen.
I'm guessing someone sitting around the fire cleaning the seeds and stems out of their weed years ago tossed them on the ground.

Not ditchweed (hemp) but obviously not as good as I can buy on the market now-days.

67.

I haven't had seeds for decades. And I grow from clones.

One time my guy had a plant transition to partially male and it fucked up a crop because he didn't catch it in time. He refused to sell it and he and a friend made some oil from it instead.

To be direct.

I'm very ignorant to growing anything, let alone MJ .

If someone hands me a geranium in a pot, it gets a sad face because it knows it's doomed.

I remember when I saw my first MJ bud without seeds, I was like WTF?
Now I know if I see seeds, it's gonna take a big fattie to catch a buzz. So I have learned something.

I have known ditchweed/hemp since I was a kid because we walked the railroad tracks a lot. My grandpa retired from the railroad and told me before marijuana/hemp was criminalized they planted it along the tracks for erosion control. It was cheap, grew thick, and needed very little care to survive.

When he'd take me dove hunting on his farm he always set us up near a marijuana patch and a pond.
"Marijuana seeds and water are a doves favorite"

I don't think we've had a totally sunny day other than once or twice since Feb.

Haven't even gotten over 22 C (72 F) temp wise too. Too cool for cucumbers and pole beans. Farmers in general are panicking a bit.

It does mean we don't have to worry about catastrophic forest fires any time soon though. Or drought.

Think I need to top her off yet?

Not even close. Without using a jewelers loupe, it's hard to tell the peak of thc content. You know what buds look like. So when looking at a bud still green on the plant, it should be 3 times the size of what you buy on the market. My point is the drying process of these buds, they will shrink 1/3 ... maybe more in size of what you are looking at on the plant.

Anyways, to figure out when to pull this plant, the vegetation around the white hairs will continue to thicken, forming a bud. When the majority of those white hairs have turned red, you are getting close. The person that gave you that plant should start stopping by to help if you need. But what you are showing us is a few weeks, maybe a month away. The longer you can wait, the better, but there is a point where the plant will begin to go down hill.

Most people pull their plants far too early.

That should look like a big, thick, green raccoon tail by the time it's done. One big bud.

Nowhere near ready yet.

Thanks. I only have grown for leaf before. Many, many years ago.

I went ahead and mowed and sprayed that volunteer stuff growing by the burn pile. I found some more out in the corral when mowing, so I'm convinced it's just hemp (ditch weed).

@Kburjr are you using lights or you growing outdoors?

I'm not going to read back...sorry

So the light cycle mother nature has in your part of the world you will not be harvesting until late sept.

When I grew pot....we used lights and we used 14 - 16 hours during the grow cycle and then we cut back to 10 hours to make them bud.

Now think how mother nature and her light cycle.
