I'm so stupid! What about the stiles? I also need to cut six new stiles! I need 32' of 1x3' poplar, just over $2 per foot. It's not gonna break the bank but all these 50 bucks here, 50 bucks there again and again, this crap adds up.

The sweet truth is, I can't wait to keep spending on my next project! It's kinda a present to my self. Nobody here knows what it is yet, well maybe one person does if they were paying attention... (hehehe!)

You might be right. Another day, another no show no call and won't respond to texts. If we don't hear from him tomorrow we are gonna have to look for someone else.

Well, if I cut the door to the correct width, I lose all the mortise-tenon joints on the side that got cut. It will be easy enough to make three new doors, I only need about 9' of 1x3" poplar to make six new rails.

And anyway, the three mistake doors will work perfect on my next project. I need to build a stand just under 8' long and so I will just need to make one additional door for that stand to have four doors. It's a super heavy duty stand but the outside will look just like my cabinets... Beautiful!

I was pissed off at first but then I just got bummed, all the wind got out of my sails. But after a break I put four of the correct size doors together and I will put the other four together tomorrow and get them ready to paint. I'm not working tonight. I like how this project is ending though. I will have those long living room cabinets done before the kitchen is complete and I like that.

So yeah, this thread will be done in a couple weeks. I certainly appreciate how you guys followed along, it helped keep me inspired!

I had a similar thread on the other hoop about a remodel project I had underway. Peter had a few projects of his own posted there as well.

The Tile Wizard finally contacted me today. He was very apologetic and promised a Tuesday start. He says he is swamped and his guys were all taking days off last week and that sort of thing. He was very convincing.

Third and Goal at the 11 yard line, 48 seconds to play.

Those are excuses.
Tile work isn't weather sensitive, so there is no reason for him to get it so wrong.

Why did he promise you a start date when he knew his guys were taking time off.

Be careful of that shit.
Hope you didn't advance him any money.

I bet you could do it. Get a grinder and put a masonry blade in it. Tape the panels down with masking tape, mark your line on the tape and cut. If you hold a wet sponge against the blade, it keeps the dust down.

I think I could too! I have enough general skills that picking up and learning new procedures comes fairly easy... But I will wait to see what happens this Tuesday. And I don't mind the delay because I still have a ton of crap to do, and I plan on cranking it out this extended weekend. As you say, "KEEP GRINDING", Hell Yeah! And I sure appreciate your faith in my abilities!

No, we didn't advance the Tile Wizard nor did the Wizard request an advance. We already have the tiles, $600+ worth! I woulda been happy with tiles that cost 1/3 that, and some of the tiles I showed earlier were in that price range. But my Lady Hag had to have what she liked and that was fine with me. This is for her anyway.

So we splurged here and there justifying the splurges by the savings from building the cabinets myself and doing as much of the work as possible.

When I started this project last October I estimated I could get it all done for around 10 grand including appliances. I wasn't even close! This is my first time doing something of this scope and the total cost is about 18 grand including the appliances.

I'm more of word guy than a math guy anyway and I figure I'm saving several Hundred Thousand Bucks any ole way with my handy work!
 
Okay Kind Friends, before I get busy today I want to show off my sink base (again) now that it's in service. Behind the two doors are two pull out drawers and that is almost unheard of in a sink base. I was able to do it by choosing to skip a garbage disposal and going with a single bowl sink opposed to a double sink which made it possible to keep the drain configured in a straight line taking up the least amount of space.

You can see where I notched the back of the top drawer to clear the drain but the bottom drawer needed no notching, none whatsoever, how very exciting!
The sink base is the workhorse cabinet in the kitchen and my Stallion sink base is a Thorough Bread!

Oh, it happens from time to time.

It's like once in a blue moon he gets a kind of reverse Tourette syndrome.
He suddenly becomes shockingly sweet, as though he has no control over it.

Fortunately, it never lasts long.

Me an my Lady Hag don't like each other right now. She went full mom-hag on me twice today.
Once for sawdust! And the other time was my fault.

I'm spent. Physically, emotionally, financially, you name it, I'm wasted.

And my sliffard situation is getting worse by the day. I'm ready to blow my stack. And I'm not allowed to cuss anymore either. My Mom-Hag said so.

I'm ready to move to Denmark and sympathy mooch off the Danes for the rest of my days. I need a long break.

He's all tough nosed with me when I make a mistake, especially a code violation but I think the big ole fur ball has a soft spot for the Guide Bear so I'm just gonna blame it on the Guide Bear so's to take advantage of the situation.

I had to move the drawer pulls because where they were, they kept the pidge door from fully opening!

I know it may be late at this point, but why couldn't you run a trim piece on the right side of those cabinets next to the Fridge?
Make it wide enough so you could open the fridge door.

Or are you already up next to that back door I see right behind the fridge.

That trim piece would give you the ability to open the door to the fridge.

My internet is broken, kind friends! I broke it with one of my long living room cabinets. It's that high speed white ATT box on the back wall. A tech is coming tomorrow to fix it, another C- note down the drain.

And it looks like I won't be moving Denmark any time soon ... I just needed some sleep. But I still wouldn't mind some quality time in Copenhagen!
Maybe look up some long lost kinfolk.
