Well done.I made the countertops with good quality hardwood plywood (birch). It just lays flatter than the less expensive plywood that I used to build the cabinets.
The plywood is 3/4" thick so I doubled up only the edges to give the appearance of 1-1/2" thick countertop.

Peace & Love, kind friends!
That stone work around the fireplace is the wrong color for what we got going on. Something darker I think would work better.
Maybe I can paint it or coat it with some special product?
That's what I was going to say. Scratch the shit out of it, with a grinder, and use the same backsplash tile thereLooks like some kind of marble or granite.
I guess you could pull it out/break it out and replace it with darker stuff.
Maybe you could rough up what is there with a sander, then just apply a darker granite over it.
Get more of the same tile you used on the backsplash. That stone work around the fireplace is the wrong color for what we got going on. Something darker I think would work better.

@Peter Gozintite ya got any ideas? Worst case we replace it with new stone.
Man Alive, is that ever THE answer! Talk about 'Design Continuity' that one small element will be SO SO perfect!Get more of the same tile you used on the backsplash.
Dude you’re pulling equity out of a house to pay off a car and buy furniture. That’s basically picking up a 30 year car loan.Good afternoon kind friends! It's a good news Tuesday and I'd like to explain and share my good news.
Let's see, I will start with this picture. We will sooner than later replace that ceiling fan/light with something that matches the new decor better. We've been in this house 15 years and the house (and fan) is 21 years old and the fan still works fine.

The next good news is that black wall. I was concerned it would be too much or it wouldn't work. The TV will go above the fire place and when we put some colorful and tasteful art on the end sections, that artwork will POP on that black wall.
And the next good news is that I will move those speaker connections from the wall to inside the cabinet. I like doing that kind of work. It can be tedious but it isn't physically demanding at all, so it won't beat me up.

And more good news is I'm finally sleeping in every day now for 3 or 4 days in a row now. The main things remaining before a clean finish is put up the rest of the crown molding, install new baseboards and finish that black wall and hang the TV and artwork and add some lighting, either a pair of sconces or some special lights for the artwork.
And the best good news I saved for last. Our money situation will see a big bump. My roommate/lover is going to refinance our house and she says it will free up a bunch of cash! So we can buy new furniture too.
And she also said she would pay her car off, a car that I make the payment on, $440 per month and with my new appliances payment of 550 per month, and my other bills, I wasn't going to be able to save any money at all for a whole year until the appliances are paid off.
So now I will have over 400 a month to help out with other bills, groceries etc.. and now I will have the coin to start my next project!
My next project is for me! Can anybody guess what it will be? I left a big hint a few weeks ago.
But before I start my new project, I sorta have an intermediate project that needs to be done ASAP and that is to re-fit and upgrade my workshop.
Okay friends, that's all for now. Have a great evening!

I thought the exact same thing but my Lady roommate says something else, something about lower interest rates... It's her deal, she has always been in charge of the finances, even when I was still working and she stayed home. I have and had no problem with that arrangement. Trust me, she din't sink her meat hooks in me for my money! But yeah, it just seams like it will take longer to get the house paid off.Dude you’re pulling equity out of a house to pay off a car and buy furniture. I don‘t recommend that strategy.
Hey wait a minute! You done scribbled on my new cabinetry! hehehe! Were these cabinets adjacent to the fireplace originally there or was that added in this remodel?

But I can tell you how to post pictures. After you attach it, click on where it says 'insert' and then choose between 'full image' or 'thumb print' and click on which size you want.Dude you’re pulling equity out of a house to pay off a car and buy furniture. Pretty tight spot there, and the door opening into it might have gotten cumbersome. Trying to make you feel better about your decision.Well it turns out that the broom closet I wanted to make won't be happening.
I was gonna put it in this corner here by the door:

My roomie/lover says it will be too much off by itself and not look right! I don't agree but I don't mind not doing more work. Still though, I could have it finished, painted and installed in 3 or 4 days from start to finish.
Okay kind friends, my workday starts now so I will see ya later, Alligator!
In a while, Crocodile!
Not too soon Fat Racoon!
Yeah, the door was also brought up as a possible problem. I feel much better, thank you!Pretty tight spot there, and the door opening into it might have gotten cumbersome. Trying to make you feel better about your decision.
She loved that idea! And I didn't mean to take the credit but I just sorta let it fly that way. Me an you, we know it was your idea!Did she like the back splash tile idea around the fireplace? I hope you made it look like your idea.
