unless Brent has an anxiety attack realizing he's going to be the head man, he's the guy. Let's see if ou keeps rolling on it's model, hire a coordinator gameplan

Venables is kind of the safe play. Stoops disciple, history with the program. He will shake all the right hands and kiss the right rings.

No head coach XP tho. That's a pretty major detracting factor when you consider candidates for a system that is supposed to compete for national titles every year.

I think Oklahoma might be too big of a job for a young guy’s first HC job, but I’d be surprised if he isn’t a HC somewhere next season. He’s the best DC UGA has had in a real long time, and he’s been grooming Glenn Schumann to be his replacement at DC

Dabo Swinney, Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day and Kirby Smart had no HC experience until they took over teams that had NC expectations

Charlie Strong, Tom Herman and Steve Sarkisian all had HC experience before taking over Texas

Eh. Kind of different situations there.

Riley and Day were already with the programs and were being groomed to take over. Dabo took over as interim HC and he impressed in his try out position. Kirby is a Saban disciple, and all his former assistants get free passes into head coaching gigs.

Venebles might be similar to Kirby in a way since he is a former Stoops guy. Still a risk asking someone to take on new roles.

Back when Mark Richt got fired, Dan Mullen was a candidate for the UGA job. HC experience in the SEC and had done a pretty good job at Miss State. He was my top choice. As much as Kirby gets on my nerves, I’m glad we didn’t make what would have been seen as a safer hire in Mullen

Schumann more likely to be Lanning’s DC if he is a head coach. We are fine with Muschamp as DC.
Lanning would have to take OU if offered. But if not best to wait for better jobs than now available.
I can see Dell McGee being a HC at a smaller school.

I was surprised McGee stuck around when Coley got the OC job over him. I’d hate to lose both Lanning and Schumann. They’re both damn good coaches and beasts on the recruiting trail

The media got crazy about a BOR meeting today, it was scheduled before any of this shit happened.....but, there will certainly be new minutes in this one that weren't planned for.

It would be nice to know something ASAP, but the guys who went into the portal haven't had their fundings cut which means they're still OU students. For now.

I'll bet you one thing: Whoever the new coach is at OU and whoever decides to skip the transfer portal and whoever eventually signs with our next recruiting class, Oklahoma's team will look like it's coming out of Chute #4 next season after all this BS.

Recommend you go after current GT head coach Geoff Collins, the guy is young and energetic. Knows how to recruit.
