Who will win Heisman

Who cares. Not sure how/why a heavily QB-favored popularity contest means anything anyways.

That Longhorn QB with the kick ass mullet
The stud RB is gone, Manning is there now pushing for PT, last year in the Big12, Sark needs a milestone kinda year, not a freggin thing to lose…

Ok, this one has my attention.

He is a former 5* because he has those traits. He's going to have to take a leap for me to be correct, I just think he has that type of talent.

USC had Addison last year. UNC had Downs and another guy get drafted. Their WR units were definitely better than Michigan's was. And yeah, I would agree, they have a better Oline, which is why they run it so much, which affects JJ's overall numbers. Like I said, we'll see what happens, I think he's due for a huge year.
michigan doesn't exactly have stellar histories recently with 5* QBs (Shane and Shea) so I'm not sure that's the greatest qualifier.

My point with guys like Addison and Downs is that michigan is recruiting guys that were at or above that level. If you're going to use recruiting stars to justify JJ being the 3rd best QB, then you also have to use them to justify michigan's WR room also being better than USC's and UNC's. Also, how is he due for a huge year when you even said his own offense will prevent him from having one?

Definitely, there is bad history with Michigan and 5* QB's. I'm willing to admit I could be wrong. And understand, the body of work isn't there to project him to be a top 3 QB. But I think he takes a big leap this year.

As far as the WR's. Michigan recruits good at the WR position, but doesn't really develop them. Addison was a 1st round pick, Downs a 3rd round pick. I'm not going to hold that against JJ. But if you gave him a Harrison Jr type WR, his numbers would be better.

I think he's do for a huge year, in the sense that he will have a top 3/5 passer rating/QBR. Will he throw for 4,200 yards? Probably not because of the nature of his offense(and them boat racing everyone). But I can see something like 35 TD's(passing/rushing) and cutting down on his INT's. He's talented, there are mocks out for 2024 that have his as a 1st rounder.

That's my problem with pumping JJ up. He has talented WRs so why isn't he making them better? Addison and Downs were both 4* just like michigan gets. In fact, I can't recall the last time michigan had even a 3rd round WR despite bringing in 4* at the position every year. I just don't buy that these other QBs are at an advantage when michigan has the same caliber of weapons available to work with. Maybe JJ will have a better year, but 35 combined TDs even seems like a stretch. I'd say maybe 30 total TDs and 3500 total yards is possible, but man, he really didn't look like a great passer for most of what I saw of him last year.

I don't think it's JJ fault the WR's haven't developed. I put more of that on the coaching staff. Harbaugh has gotten good WR recruits. Even someone like DPJ wasn't developed and he was a 5*. Having a stud like Addison, Downs or OSU WR, is a huge advantage.

Like I said, we'll see. I'm projecting ahead. He will be handcuffed with the numbers he can put up because of the offense and them blowing teams out, but I think he can get to around 35 TD's. I do think he can play himself into a 1st rounder too.

Seeing DPJ on the Browns with their pisspoor QB play and still playing well makes me realize how much he was wasted at michigan. He should've been an early round pick, he has all the talent. The same to an extent with Nico Collins. Even with poor QB play he has shown flashes. It's too bad, those guys have been wasted their entire careers up to this point.

You point out the WRs at OSU, but do you think Olave was going to become the stud he is at michigan? Or guys like Mike Thomas, McLaurin, Campbell (health issues but was still a 2nd rounder), even Garrett Wilson? I know their WRs coaching is lacking but they've had 4/5* talent at QB and none of them can excel either. Another thing to keep in mind, michigan lost 2 of their top 3 leading receivers from last year, and Ronnie Bell had 400 more yards than anyone else. Other than his recruiting stars, I'm just not seeing anything that would suggest that JJ is going to somehow excel this year.

Shit I was pretty much spot on about JJ in this thread. 1st in QBR, 2nd in passer rating. Now a projected top 10 pick by multiple outlets. 👀

NOT Caleb Williams!!!!!
