World Cup 2022 Qatar

Son had surgery today. May miss World Cup now.

Werner got hurt today too and had to be subbed out early in the Leipzig game. No update yet on status.

Confirmed: Ligament tear in his ankle. Out of World Cup and rest of 2022. Could be good or bad news for Germany. He has scored a lot for Germany but has also shanked and been offside for many sitters. Opens a spot for someone else. Karim Adeyemi?

With Werner now ruled out, Flick is almost certain to call up the Bundesliga's leading scorer Niclas Fullkrug who operates as a natural No. 9, a powerful in-the-box striker. Hmmm..his first Cap will be the World Cup. Some guys are lucky, and some guys aren't.

Rosters getting selected today for some teams. Firmino did not make Brazil team. Team is just too deep.

USA short of center backs. Long and Zimmerman...that will be a shit show imo.

What is the deal? Wolverhampton player Raul Jimenez playing for Mexico in a friendly right now (on the bench), and Wolverhampton playing a Carabao Cup game too right now. Huh? Bayern Munich would never allow that lol!!

Pepi got left off ?!?! What the fuck? Those rumors better be true that he could be injured but if not, Fuck Gregg Berhalter and Fuck US Soccer. Actually, Fuck Gregg Berhalter anyway. Regardless of what happens this WC (I'm expecting winless), there needs to be a new manager

Pepi should have played for Mexico. Josh Sargent, Jesus Ferreira, Haji Wright your strikers. Oh boy..... Nothing like a 5'7" striker with Ferriera. No Jordan Prefok. No Paul Ariola either. Surprised with Berhalter's MLS love.

Tim Ream, wtf is he doing on here? When was the last time he played for USMNT? He has called up a few that have barely sniffed this team. Cameron Carter-Vickers?

So. I kinda checked out after the T&T match 4 years ago.

I was a Klinsmann guy and watching what that team became under Arena was too much. They got off to a rough start to Qualifying that year but the same was true 4 years earlier and they ended up on top.

Haven't payed too much attention these last 4 years but I know this is as young team. Pulisic and Reyna (when he's healthy) impress me the most. Reyna has on the ball skills that you don't see too often in a US squad. Other than that I haven't been too impressed with what I've seen. Trying to give Berhalter the benefit of the doubt but it seems like overall team strategy is not the strong suit. Hopefully things come together in the next week and a half but I'm not too optimistic.

I don't like your negative energy

German roster named. No Hummels. Bella-Kotchap instead. Hmmm. A bit of a surprise. Reus, Wirtz, and Werner will miss due to injury. Too bad for Reus. The guy can't stay healthy. Biggest surprise: Mario Goetze. Hasn't even played in friendlies or Nations League and for awhile. Another surprise: Moukoko. Been in decent form for at Dortmund. Fullkrug, Adeyemi get called up as forwards too. Brandt made it too.

Moukoku, Fullkrug, Goetze no recent or any National Team experience.

Awesome Fullkrug made it.

Overview by ESPN of USA selections. If you read it, you can understand Haji Wright selection (20 goals this year), but also question Ferreira over Pepi. Injuries played a role in defensive selections. I would have chosen Pepi.

Awesome Fullkrug made it.
They needed a real number 9. All they have. Others not true #9. Maybe Moukoko. Muller will probably play the false #9. Not sure if that is a good idea though. Hasn't worked in the past. Germany problem will be the defense. Tilo Kehrer? Goosens didn't make it either, so Raum will own left back. Who plays Right? Kehrer? Yikes. Center backs are probably fine as long as Sule doesn't go to sleep and Schlotterbeck doesn't give a penalty in the box. Would have loved to have Wirtz healthy. 2026 Wirtz/Musiala attacking midfield. Scary!!!

Why the English FA decided trying to squeeze in the Carabao Cup before the WC was a good idea is beyond me. Literally all anyone who is going to the WC is trying to do right now is avoid injury. And most, especially if they've been playing in european comps, are absolutely exhausted and have no motivation to do anything but self preserve in that Cup.

Conte tried to rotate regulars with our bench players and absolutely no one looked like they wanted to be out there.
