Poll Which dead program is the most dead?

Most dead program

  • Total voters

Note, in order to qualify the team must currently belong to a P5 conference and have multiple natties in their history to qualify. So the Ivy League schools, military academies and trash programs like Vandy don’t qualify

Vote and discuss
Fair.

Out of the four-

Not Michigan. They have won a title in the last 30 years and was just in the playoffs. They aren't elite of course but they have the most solid case to still hang their banners.

Nebraska comes in next, they also have titles in the past 30 years and really they were never as old time dominant as the other three, they were elite for a few decades (60s-90s) but outside of those four decades? Nada.

It's between Pitt & Minnesota, and it's obviously Minnesota as much as I disdain for Pitt. Pitt last claimed/unclaimed title was in 1981 while Minnesota's last claimed/unclaimed title was 1960.

Pitt has two 10+ win seasons for the past 40 years, Minnesota has two 10+ wins seasons in the past century.
Pitt has been ranked five time in the past decade versus Minnesota ONE!
Pitt has beaten West Virginia more times this century than Minnesota has with Wisconsin, and the Backyard Brawl hasn't happened in over a decade itself!

Minnesota is more dead than Pitt.

You lost me at your first line about Michigan. Michigan hasn’t won a natty since 1948

[Full disclosure: I like Nebraska a lot.]

Here's a fair question. If Nebraska is only a very good coach away from being back on top, then why hasn't a very good coach taken the job for over two decades? Wouldn't you think up and coming "very good coaches" or established "very good coaches" would be clamoring for interviews if everything else was teed up in Lincoln? Why hasn't even one "very good coach" sat down with the AD and Regents and lobbied like a SOB for the job? And no, Scott Frost isn't in that category. You never see hot coaches flying, driving or hitchhiking to Nebraska to get an interview. There are reasons for that.
I love that everyone has to give the disclaimer of “I actually like Nebraska” when giving any criticism because their fans are such sensitive little turds.

That's what retards always say, before saying something retarded, and speak about things they know nothing about.

^ sensitive turd
Sensitive to mouth breathers in my personal space or driving in front of/next to me, you're just a mouth breather on the internet. Nothing to be sensitive about 😂😂🤣🤠

How have USC, Florida, Texas, and Florida St done since?
Those four and many others haven't been getting their money's worth IMHO. There are a whole bunch of places that have spent a shitpot full of money for poor results. Sounds like some investment advisors I know!

The program that is the most dead isn't on this list. The one that I see having the hardest time ever getting back to its former glory is Notre Dame.

Notre Dame just seems miles away from being the Notre Dame of the Rudy era.

11th, 13th, 14th....those are all pretty good classes for continuously sucking. ALL of them are higher than Nebraska's best ranked class in the last decade.

It is probably a mute point with Tennessee playing well this season (still 5 more games to go though) but I want to point out one advantage Nebraska has versus Tennessee.

Tennessee has at least 3 opponents annually (if not more) that have generally had higher recruiting classes than Tennessee most years: Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

Nebraska sometimes has Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State but for the most part, is competing against lesser competition from a recruiting aspect.

In summary, Nebraska doesn't have to pull in top 10 classes to beat the teams in the B1G West, Tennessee has to pull in top 10 classes to compete against Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

That is the difference.

Granted, coaching matters more. Look at Tennessee's meteoric rise this year with Heupel as an example. USC Trojans are another program discussed in this thread roaring back. I would also argue that Michigan doesn't belong on this list as they are tending to finish now most years consistently in top 10 with 11 wins.

Meh. I don’t think they’ll ever be a powerhouse again, but since 2012, they’ve made the playoffs twice and mad a BCS NCG. They got blown out every time, but they still got there and that’s a pipe dream for most on that list other than a fluke season from Michigan last year

That is some high level friggin' deep thought there. That could not be put more point blank.

i've watched Colorado.. I know I'm older than some of these posters but they used to have good contending teams year in year out. And to see them now.. I don't even know what could possibly "save" them. I believe things go in cycles but.. it's a hard sell for me

I personally do NOT think Michigan even belongs on the list. They are good enough now to typically beat everyone in the B1G not named Ohio State and if they catch Ohio State in a right matchup, they are winning and going to playoffs like last year. It is basically 1990s again in B1G with conference championship coming down to that game.

Yeah, I was gonna say Notre Dame has at least made the playoff. Man, I have to go with Miami. It is like a dumpster fire full of cow dung and wood shavings soaked in kerosene and lit with a flamethrower.

they still sell out their stadium and have teams that still compete, they are not dead.. everyone thinks if you don't win a title within 5 season you are dead.. This is the reason why I'm glad the CFP is expanding
