TV Series Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon

He isn’t dead.
Lmao. I ducked that up. Why would the show make him look so different and then just show him for 1.5 seconds?
I thought he was just some boatman ferrying that other dude away to safety, and that that boatman might be some minor henchman later.

Sounds like every origin story of every adult bully.

Poll: Did Rhaenyra have anything to do with Laenor’s death?
A. Yes. She was in on it.
B. It was all Daemon’s doing.
C. It was some third party.
Interesting question. There were so many layers to that scene…

Vissy was looking very weak, and couldn’t avenge his own daughter’s name, so Daemon saved his brother some face by avenging his wife’s name instead.

Daemon got the OK from Rhaenyra (via the nod seen around the world) to eliminate a potential challenger to the future crown.

Rhaenyra was able to get a little revenge against everyone who ever believed their lying eyes about the true parentage of her children.

I actually place myself firmly in “team-black” and don’t really see how anyone could see it differently. But I also am all for the conversation and just want to analyze what the show has given us, where ever it may lead.
Then my read was quite wrong. I’m not being revisionist on what she asked of her father, just read that wrong.

Dead kid reaped what he sowed.
Luke was always a sniveling little twerp, imho. And Aemon, as “Joffry”-esque as he has been portrayed, is actually a quite interesting character.

I think if the guy wants to disappear into the world he absolutely has to take away those distinctive locks.

Yeah. But he’s been a sissy twink all this time, now for 1.5 seconds in the dark of pre-dawn, he looks like Medieval Mike Tyson.

I’m not gonna feel too bad for missing that.

I had Aemond pegged wrong. Really thought “heres a kid no one will expect anything from and he will do great things”.

Perhaps in the battles to come he will. I just walked right past how the bullied become the bullies most times.

How did you see that scene? I simplified it for humor’s sake, of course, but that was kinda how I saw it. She was willing to take on the task her father asked of her, but in exchange, she needed him to stop leaving her out to dry as he basically had her whole life. She was crying to her daddy that she needed support. He heard her, so he made the appearance in court to make it crystal clear who his heir was to be (showing her unquestioned support). This show of support was from a father more so than from a king. And Daemon’s actions were equally from a brother as they were from a husband.

I am actually surprised that I took the scene for such granted. It never occurred to me that it was a confusing scene, but your pointing it out makes it obvious it could have been missed.

I think the casting made it clear he would be a power-player. The actor who plays Egmond is very non-descript. Shortish with no discerning facial features. No one would be able to pick him out of a lineup. The actor who plays Aemon is VERY distinctive. Tall, lanky, perfect evil snarl (and the prop of an eye patch doesn’t hurt). Similar to the original Daario. The original was very distinctive (in a very uncomfortable way, imho) while the recast actor was a complete cookie cutter actor who could not stand out in an open field.

I saw no issue. I saw her in the right.

She needed as much as he could give (didn’t matter anyway).

She had Rhaenys in her ear the whole time that they will never take her seriously. And they didn’t.

Who is Egmond?

Unrelated…

I just learned that the first Daario was Ed Skrein from Deadpool (the main baddie). I never made that connection (or if I had, I had forgotten it)

He shaved his head, to look like Vin Diesel.

I think the show did that to let everyone know he was leaving his regal life behind.

Without the white hair, he’s just a badass, rich gay. Not a dragon riding heir to a realm.

I liked that Daemon let us know Seasmoke has just been sitting around Driftmark, doing nothing since Laenore bounced. Interested in finding out who gets that dragon.

He’s gayer than Sunday, but he’s a straight up badass too.

Maybe I fudged the names (who can blame me with this show, amiright?)

The current “king”.
Oh trust me….youisright. These names.

That’s why I asked, thought I missed someone.

Aegon is that little shit with the pointy hat.

Aegon. ;)

If there's one name to remember in this show, it should be that one, as it is arguably the most important name in the Game of Thrones world.

This is just a list of the significant Aegons (there are actually several more Aegons not listed here!):

- Aegon the Conqueror established the Targaryen dynasty by conquering Westeros
- Aegon the Uncrowned was the rightful heir to the throne who got usurped by his uncle
- Aegon the Elder is Viserys and Alicent's son who is the current king in House of the Dragon
- Aegon the Younger is Rhaenyra and Daemon's son who is currently a little boy in House of the Dragon
- Aegon the Unworthy is the Henry VIII-esque king whose decisions resulted in the Blackfyre Rebellions
- Aegon the Unlikely has a major role in the Dunk & Egg series
- Aegon is Rhaegar and Elia Martell's son who has a major role in the books but was ignored in the TV series
- Aegon is Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark's son in the TV series: Jon Snow!
