2024 Recruiting Thread

The kid that left ND was also offered and went to MI. Both were good prospects and Day could not seal the deal. As of right now the bad guys are winning.

I mean clearly recruiting isn't the issue when it comes to losing to Michigan. On paper we have way more talent than them and have still gotten ran the last 2 years.

If we get James Peoples it will be ok.

He visiting this weekend

I wouldn't say "big" loss. If we strike out on other RBs, yes. But I don't lose much sleep on missing out on a RB, we seem to always find a guy. If it was a top OL or something of sort i'd be concerned. It is a nice get for Michigan though. I'll give them that.

We have RB depth on this team through at least the 2024 season. The portal exists and there are obviously plenty of RBs available in the 2024 class.

Also, it sucks losing an Ohio kid to michigan, but it's also hardly the first time it's happened. Hell we lost two top 5 kids in state to PSU in 2022 including a 5* QB. We'll be fine.

Yea Ohio kids are far from locks now a days. That's the price you pay for the more national approach we started taking when Urban took over, but winning with just Ohio kids these days also is not going to happen so its a give and take thing.

Especially the Cincinnati area, we seem to miss out quite a bit on higher end guys from there. I won't say it's "anti Ohio State" there but the rabid pro Ohio State sentiment across most of the rest of the state definitely does not exist in that area.

You're not wrong, the Cincy area in general definitely has a "little brother" type of anger against Ohio State for whatever reason, which explains why he went to michigan. Oh well, turn the page.

I didnt say it was, I only said Harbs is beating Day in recruiting right now.
However if they can with with less talent on paper, what happens when they are equal since they are winning recruiting right now?

Yea usually they end up at Notre Dame, Ped State or the SEC. Never shocked when we don't get a Cincy kid. There is absolutely no Ohio State pipeline out of there.

Lol no. He's not. They got 2 players we wanted. I don't even really count that DB as a loss, that was a weird situation all around.

Ohio State will finish with a better class than Michigan. Will it matter though on the field? Who knows.

Not at all. I'm still very happy with the direction this class is going. Highly likely we end up with another top 5 class with a top 2-3 average player rating, same as usual.

We have a good shot at better RB prospects. People get all hung up on him going to Michigan. But if we land a better RB does it really matter?

I don't think it matters either way. We've had success with RBs with different kinds of recruiting backgrounds, so I don't really car much either way.

Harbs is currently beating Day. For the 2024 class MI has 4 players from OH. I dont know how many had Buckeye offers but I would guess 3.

338, 390, 455. Those are the overall 247 composite rankings of the other 3.......

When Harbaugh starts constantly beating Day for higher end guys we can say he is "beating him" in recruiting.

It would be bad practice just to take Ohio players to keep them away from Michigan.

I wouldn't say that (Michigan outrecruiting OSU) -- what Michigan has done by beating OSU the last two years is make head way into the state of Ohio for recruiting, which we haven't had in a while. Now if Bryce West, who has visited UM multiple times, chooses UM over OSU -- that'd be worrisome.

Right now they are ahead of you by points, but you are substantially ahead of them by 247 Composite average (not Rivals Star average) - 94.3 v. 90.58. The points is quantity over quality right now.

Yea we only have 4 commits' currently to their 9. Its way too early in the cycle still.

A 31, 40 and 21 on 247 are good position rankings.

They took a 25 and dont want the 31 with no other higher? The 40 is so-so but no commits at all above that for DL. The 21, Ill agree with the current commits.

Harbs is still currently beating Day on and off the field

Its a small sample size but two big targets when to MI. Maybe the Buckeye commits are waiting. We call all hope the good guys win.

We are normally a little slower to start, but this year we are crushing it. The state of Georgia is absolutely loaded this year. We'll take more Georgia kids this year than we have in a while.

Like I said, its way too early in this cycle.

Ohio State is in on a lot of higher profile national guys, who tend to not commit early. Give it a few months.
