Lettuce take a look at the pours in the SEC ...

You'd be alright if you stayed in the Big 12. You won't be alright in the SEC. Take 2023 for example -- in the Big 12, Texas would have the #1 recruiting class for football and they'd have more 5 star recruits signed than the rest of the conference combined.
Unfortunately for them -- two teams finished with better recruiting classes -- both of them in the SEC and both of them signed more 5 star recruits than Texas. Hell -- Alabama signed TWICE AS MANY five star recruits than Texas, which is absurd, because it isn't like Texas signed 2 or 3, they signed 6 five star recruits. Bama though signed 12.
i can't handle it oh no GIF

Seriously though.. Bama had a MUCH more talented team a year ago heading into Austin and barely beat us with a late FG.. A team that had the reigning Heisman winner.. A team that had the #1 draft pick and the #11 or so Draft pick in Gibbs.. they put up 20 pts that game.

UT is going to be fine in the SEC, the base is more riled up about playing in bigger stadiums with rabid fans. Hope you remember all those bluechip 5 stars Bama has when we beat them in September..
What gets me is those BMDs are savvy business guys for the most part. But they really don’t seem to care about their ROI when it comes to their beloved rusty cows’ performance. Same for the agnuts. Both keep forking it over though.
ROI? lol those guys just love having their names across buildings and facilities lol. It's Joe Schmo's like me that are funding NIL for the roster.. I donate $25 a month to Burnt Ends and I donate $25 towards the Texas One fund per month.. Sure that isn't BMD but when you get a few thousand fans like me donating, it really makes a difference.

Up to this point we haven't lost a player because of NIL

According to Nick everything good that happens at A&M is because we cheated and paid for it, so clearly it is known funds are not in short supply at A&M.
I had a talk earlier with a bud of mine who is really tied in with a group of aggy boosters.. If Jimbo slips up this year, he says the temperature is set that they would buy him out so they can bring in someone else who can take advantage of the roster they helped put together on their dime.
I was like.. but the optics... he was like fuck the optics lol

I still can't see them up and pay Jimbo all that money and then pay more for the next coach and his staff all within the same year.. but when you deal with oil and gas guys that know they don't have too many years ahead of them.. i can see it happening.

Well -- if you only lost a close game to Bama a year ago, en route to what has become their usual 4 or 5 loss season -- Texas is definitely ready for the SEC.

If you haven't won a big 12 title in 15 years, moving to the conference considered by everyone as the best conference in college football isn't a bright idea, if winning a conference title is on your agenda.

I don't think Jimbo slips up this year, and I don't hear from anyone that he is on a hot seat. Now anything is possible if we end with 5 wins again, but it's not likely. Money has little to do with it, he is bringing in talent and there isn't anyone better sitting out there right now.

Yeah, I heard a guy say one time that “ How good of an old boy you are (were) is in direct proportion to how much money you left _________University or how big the building was on that campus that had your name on it.”

You guys may not have lost anyone to NIL, but when is the last time you got a natty to show for all that money? (Golf and rowing don’t count)

u know Mizzu never won a conference championship in the big 12 but was able to play for 2 SEC championship games back to back..

yeah that's the thing about the money for recruiting.. there was enough to keep from a mass exodus.. but if you look at recruiting right now.. they aren't active as they were 2 years ago.. and right now I don't see Reuben Owens type of guys that are giving them the benefit of the doubt right now like a year ago.

And I agree.. FISHER has to REBOUND this season.. it's as open as it has been for him in the West.. he has a returning QB.. time to get it done too

You do realize Georgia is slightly better as a program than Georgia was a decade ago? AND those Missouri teams were both blown out in the SEC championship game.
For the football program, it makes no sense, as you go from a big fish in a small pond, to just another fish in the big boy pond. Texas hasn't won the Big 12 in 15 years, so I'm not sure the fan base is going to be thrill when it is another 15 and they haven't won the SEC either.

If you are counting on that, good luck. Mizzou came into the SEC when it was the furthest down that it has ever been. UTjr was shitting the bed with their coaching hires, UF had come of 2 NCs and Meyers left, and UGA was in the downside of Richt.

Meanwhile, Pinkle was peaking in both the B12 and the SEC. In 2014 they lost to UGA 34-0 at home, but we lost to USCjr and UF so they won the east. Both times they were destroyed by the West champion.

You are coming into the SEC where there are no divisions, so you will play 4-5 of LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, ATM, Tenn, Oklahoma, and then other middling teams like Arkansas, Ole Miss, USCjr, etc. If you are counting on a Mizzou 2013-2014 run, good luck with that.

As I have said in another thread, I suspect you will be more competitive that people are thinking. You are recruiting well. Jury still out on Sark. So who knows.

You underestimate the rusty cow fanbase. They’ll continue to throw money at it regardless of results, i.e. conference championships. Just look at their history.

Same for the agnuts.

They’ll perform just about like the have in the Big 12…just like A&M did/has done.

We have confirmed sources!

Jimbo is going to get fired.

It will be very interesting. If anything, it certainly will make it harder for the top teams to go undefeated. Adding OU and TX every other year/every year, along with playing LSU, UF, UTjr, ATM, UGA, AU, UA more frequently will make it so there are going to be some losses.

I've seen some delusional fans, including in my own team's fan base, but Texas fans are on another level. Can't wait to hear the excuses when they go another 15 years without winning a conference title.

Some are delusional, but there are a lot that don't seem to care about results as long as they win the money contest. They don't even bother to make excuses....just write another check.

They have no idea what it takes to win a conference title in the SEC. Most years it is harder than a natty.

My favorite part of this is to sit back and watch them start talking about how good teams like KY, Miss State and Ole Miss are totally ignoring that they have dissed those teams as easy wins for years.
