Harbaugh facing 4 game suspension

No school has to listen to a damn thing the NCAA says anymore. They've been neutered.

This also I don't believe to be true.

Michigan fans were suggesting that the NCAA be told to fuck off, and even if they laid a bowl ban down. The CFP would go over the NCAA and take them anyway. I do not believe the Bowls would do this.

I don't think the NFL really wants him, with how the last 2 years of him trying to get a job in the league has went. Harbaugh seems like the type who would just quit rather than stick out any NCAA sanctions even if he doesn't land a NFL gig.

There reportedly was already tension between the Athletic Department and Harbaugh. And feeling is he really didn't want to serve any suspension. Now they are making them by their own choice take one to bow down to the NCAA instead of going to bat for him. So more bad blood there as well.

If he wants, I mean really wants, an NFL gig I think he could get one. I think the previous years was him going to teams and putting out a list of extreme demands bc he knew he has Michigan to fall back on

Agreed. I think he was trolling to see what offers would look like and unless they gave him an offer too good to refuse he wasn't losing anything

I don't think he really actually likes the college game that much. All of this certainly is not going to help that. So yea you might be right he might just take whatever he can at whatever stipulation after this season.

Harbaugh loves coaching in college, especially in Ann Arbor. That is where he was raised as a kid and he has said repeatedly, he wants to raise his kids there too.

I wouldn't put too much into the Harbaugh/NFL stuff -- I think he was doing that more to leverage it against UM than anything else. Though I know he really wants to win a super bowl as a coach, so wouldn't be shocked if he did go back, but it will be later when a lot of his kids are through school.

Although I don't think the scandal at Iowa has anything to do with the coaches.

Point shaving would help explain your offensive “philosophy”.

Seems pretty obvious now that the debate was about the suspension lasting into the B10 schedule

The University looked at the evidence and knew a suspension was coming, they gave him the min they thought could happen as a way to gain favor with the NCAA. I stole that line from a talking head. But they knew he cheated and wanted to get ahead of it.

How much favor is 3 games really going to gain though? When the NCAA denied the 4 game offer Michigan put forward to them?

The ADs statement makes me think this is more serious than some want to believe, and that same statement also makes it seem like they are going to toss Harbaugh directly under the bus when the shit finally hits the fan ("we did our due diligence and we didn't know we had a rogue coach on our hands" type admission) He basically just said the 3 games was the Athletic Department punishing themselves for their admitted fault (aka the athletic department covering their bases) and that hopefully it will help with the ongoing investigation.

They knew a suspension was coming and that the ncaa was being bitches with the 4 game shit into the B10 schedule. So imo this is a shot at the ncaa. Which is why they made it 3 (probably what Harbaugh was arguing for to begin with).

So this is about a lot more than cheeseburgers and texts to recruits.
This is pretty literally about cheeseburgers. All other violations were secondary. You know, like the exact same thing Ohio state did last year?

Yeah, @MAIZEandBLUE09 seems to be the only one downplaying all of this.
Because nothing of significance occurred. Teams report secondary violations all the time. The only reason anyone is even talking about this is because Harbaugh wouldn’t cooperate with their investigation about buying a cheeseburger. It’s nonsense.

Michigan’s AD trying to cover his own ass and trying to lessen the blow by getting ahead of things by making Harbaugh take a self imposed suspension would make one think things are much more serious than you want to make yourself believe

He's already been suspended for 25% of the season. I'd say something significant occurred for that to happen, whether you want to believe it or not. I agree teams report secondary violations all the time. However, the HC is never suspended for 25% of the season because of it.

He mislead investigators. It’s why Harbaugh is being suspended. Pretty simple. I just don’t particularly care that he did.

Lmao. Totally the same thing.

"No punitive actions were taken by the NCAA in response to the violations"
I think you missed the point here. The core violations that Michigan broke are secondary, no different than what Ohio state reported. People are acting like Michigan is being punished for recruiting violations and that isn’t the case. Harbaugh is being punished for misleading the ncaa about a single instance of those secondary violations.

Michigans AD is making a genius move. The ncaa looks silly now. Harbaugh and Michigan wanted Harbaugh for the B10 season. Even if the ncaa tacks 1-2 games on next year, it’s never going to reach the B10 season. And now the NCAA would have to come out publicly and justify a more sever punishment. Are they going to make it 4 games? Something they seemingly turned down? There’s very little they can do now tk not look powerless and silly.

Then he shouldn't have misled the NCAA. Obviously what he did, was worse than what osu did, so the two situations aren't comparable.
