Movie Dune: Part 2 (2024)

AMC's Dune popcorn bucket has been going viral on social media.

Since they're not yet widely available, Dune popcorn buckets are currently selling for $80 or more on eBay.

The new fad resulted in this SNL skit yesterday:

Dune 2 preview scene --

SPOILER WARNING: Warner Brothers released an entire 6-minute scene as an official promo, so be warned, do not click and watch this unless you want an entire 6-minute scene from the upcoming movie spoiled!

I gotta tell you, I must be the only one on the planet who didn't like Part 1. Hell I even watched it a second time because everybody thought I was nuts. Nope, the second watch was as shitty as the first. Maybe Part 2 will be better. I'll watch that and see.
Yup. Fantasy just isn’t for me. And even when they get great actors and cinematography, it’s still not good. Part 1 had no narrative to speak of, and what it dud have was incomplete and senseless without already knowing the whole story.
But then again, everyone has convinced themselves the LOTR movies are good when they are poorly acted/directed trash that also suffer from what’s stated above.

Finally got around to seeing part 1 on a flight recently. I liked it.
My son and I watched last night. First Dune experience for him. He liked it.

Boring as hell for me. Some CGI different stuff but same movie as one I saw years ago. Slow as hell...

I didn't see the original dune from the 80's.

The remake...I didn't like Dune the first time I watched it. There was too much to learn and if you left for any reason without pausing it, you most likely missed something that was important. The second time I made sure I didn't have any distractions and I made it through the entire movie and enjoyed it some. But it still felt slow.

Then I watched it a few weeks ago getting tuned back up for part II and it was great. I think part I requires total emersion and focus. It's not a simply written story.

It almost had to be if they really wanted to get the story introduced. I liked the fact that they tried to actually get people acclimated to the story rather than just make it as exciting as possible

It’s definitely slow but I think it did a batter job of world building than the ‘84 version. Obviously the cgi improvements helped but the only thing I remember about the ‘84 version was the movie theater handed out glossary cards so you could understand the dialogue.

First of all, Dune is not an action movie. Even in the book, the first half is Paul's coming of age story. If Dune: Part 2 follows along, it will be the story of Paul's rise to power.

The entire series is so richly layered as to have enough fodder for several movies.

The second part of the book definitely has potential for a lot more action though.

Oh I don't mind the human interests. But same fucking movie as first one and it is slow...

Saw it as a young teen. Thought it was strange. Made me think about the movie for days afterwards. Spice = worm shit.

Couldn't understand a simple sentence?

Your mental acuity is worse than originally thought.
Yeah that's it.

WTF as in I said it was slow not that I didn't say I didn't understand.

So again, WTF?
