2021 season thread

He says stuff he shouldn’t. He should have junked Elliott, and there was a time when he would have.

They say Mike Skinner was a real tough customer too. I bet Dale Jarrett could have been, but he was too nice of a guy.

The old timers say Donnie Allison is probably the toughest to ever do it, though they also say they witnessed Tiny Lind whip Lee, Richard and Maurice Petty all at the same time.
Most of the old timers were rough as a cob. OTOH, I can remember Kevin throwing two possible punches, one at Kyle Bush who was in his car at the time, and one at Jimmy Johnson that looked like a shove in the chest. He did grab Keselowski once in victory lane but even then he did not get in a swing. Harvick runs his mouth about fighting but is a chickenshit and always has been. I have no issues with someone that does not want to fight but someone that is always talking about kicking someone's ass should at least offer to back it up instead of throwing temper tantrums.. Harvick is a coward in that regard.

He grabbed Greg Biffle by the throat, and remember, throwing a punch up until around 2011 when they issued the boys have at it deal, would get you a suspension and a points deduction. Jimmy Spencer got suspended for punching Kurt Busch, even though Rubberhead had it coming.

Only drivers I can remember ever throwing a single punch in my lifetime are:

Michael Waltrip(Lake Speed)
Tony Stewart(Joey Logano)
Kevin Harvick(Kyle Busch)
Kyle Busch(Joey Logano)
Marcos Ambrose(Casey Mears)
Jeff Gordon(Mike Bliss)
Clint Bowyer(Ryan Newman)
Jimmy Spencer(Kurt Busch)

Now, I’ve seen several driver fights with punches thrown in the Busch and Trucks, but in the Cup Series, if punches are being thrown, it’s usually gonna be from a crew member.

I think Ward Burton would have literally killed Dale Jr at Bristol if he could have got to him at the his hottest point, but he cooled down by the end of the race. Ward Burton is another one that I bet would have been hard to handle

Ryan Newman punched Juan Pablo Montoya inside the Nascar trailer after they were brought there after a race.
JPM threatened to sue Ryan for assault. LOL

I didn’t hear about that one. I know Joey Logano came close to eating one from Newman

Me either. I thought JPM was in to martial arts but that may have just been that he had lessons in his youth.

The thing about martial arts is they only really teach how to defend against that particular martial art. That all goes out the window when you get punched in the mouth

I somewhat disagree ... martial arts that focus on sanctioned tournament fighting within its discipline is next to useless though. Jeet Kune Do and mixed martial arts can save your ass.

MMA tends to be dominated by wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai and kickboxing. You see a judo specialist every now and then.

Checked the running order. Looks like Bubba is gonna get a win today. Rain shortened on a Monday at a plate track, but it still counts.

Would be the first win for a car with McDonalds as the primary sponsor since Jimmy Spencer in 1994

I have said for a few years that as excitable as he is, the interview should be wild.

After the events at Talladega last year, I expect a very emotional interview.

I figured Kurt Busch would have got Michael Jordan his first win as a NASCAR owner, but plate tracks are the biggest wild cards in sports

Dega has no lights and it’s Monday. This race is over. Good for Bubba.

But speaking of black race car drivers, I think a NASCAR team needs to pick up Ernie Francis Jr. He dominates Trans Am and was really impressive in the SRX series. Kid’s a wheel man, and the Busch Series would pay more than Trans Am.

Bubba's the first Wallace since Rusty, the first McDonald's since Jimmy Spencer (kudos @Illustrious Potentate for that one), and the first Black racer since Wendell Scott to win one of these things. Not bad.

Just to make sure, Bubba and Rusty aren't related, is that correct?

They are not

Jamie Mac never won in the McDonalds car?

Nope. Bass Pro and some bank.

And McDonalds was a primary sponsor on a car for a ton of races between wins, including every race for Bill Elliott's own race team when he drove the 94.

I think Caterpillar now has the most races as the primary sponsor since their last win with Ward Burton at New Hampshire in 2002.

Caterpillar I would have thought Ryan Newman or Jeff Burton.

Nope. Grainger was the primary sponsor Newman's win in the 31, and Burton was still driving the AT&T sponsored car for his RCR wins(think one was with a medicine company), Cat was still sponsoring the corpse of the Bill Davis 22 for Jeff Burton's final wins.
