Have to cancel our Christmas Eve party.

Im not trying to force anyone to do fuck. I think the vaccine is grossly over applied and we are making a mistake doing this. From a personal standpoint….I got both shots last spring. I’ve debated with myself since then whether I should have taken tor not. I’m in my own internal debate right now if I even get a booster (currently I’m at “probably not”).

My responses today, specific to the case of this ship (or any sports league in the same regard) is less about forcing vaccinations on a populace that doesn’t need them, but in response to any underlying points that the vaccine doesn’t create positive outcomes when applied. Overall it does.

It’s not the science that’s failing, it’s public policy.

That's where I am.
I got two Pfizers last spring and am unsure if/when I'll get the booster.
I'm healthy, not overweight, and my nurse tells me I've got the blood pressure of a 20 year old.
I can't remember the last time I got the flu or a cold. The common cold is a corona virus like covid. I never get the flu vaccine.

I got the vax last spring because I read that covid amplifies tinitus of which I have a mild case of. Ringing above 6K. The owner of Texas Roadhouse committed suicide because he got covid and he could no longer stand the amplified ringing of his tinitus. It took me a few years to get used to what I've got.

No, that’s right. It’s silly it’s still debated.

The point is that all @ill said there isn’t reason to force or compel people to do something they don’t want to do.
it's not even that...but I think that we kind of have to be fluid while we face this whole thing and that isn't happening.

people obviously want to go about their lives like COVID isn't a thing anymore and I can relate...no one wants it around still.

but it is still here and SOMETHING needs to be done...do you agree?

and you have different people who have different opinions as to what extent that something needs to be.

but at the same time, there is a lot of passion and emotion involved, which always makes things a challenge.

Sure the virus is changing. It's changing to a weaker strain.
but it still exists...and that doesn't mean the original strains aren't still out there. A new strain does not mean the old ones are being replaced.

Oh, I know you're not. But many politicians are and there are many on the left that agree with forced vaccinations.

You and I are 100% in agreement on this. I have been blessed with a very strong immune system. So I didn't feel that I needed the vaccine for myself. However, I have 4 people in my life that are in the at risk group and since I am one that even if I got Covid, it's unlikely that I would have symptoms...I decided to get vaccinated for them. I am, however, dragging my feet on the booster.

Pretty much agree with all of this.
The politicians are why this is politicized. Period. I’ll never get over this.

And you and I are waffling on the booster for much the same reasons. We have a high risk member in the family. He’s already faced down ICU once with this. We share custody of kids. Giant fucking Petri dishes of kids. I took the jabs last time to reduce how much viral load I might be carrying, infectious time, etc. Then we practically had to break his fucking arm to get vaccinated ( not a principle thing….he’s absolutely high risk).

Now, I don’t know if I will bother. I no longer worry about my parents. They are double vaccinated and boosted, as they should at their age.

If the one high risk in the family won’t get boosted himself I’m just not sure I want another jab for something that preliminary data and logic tells me is weakening in severity.

And, back to ultimate point, I waffle so much because the science is there. Not what was initially promised, but it is there. But, short of a family member we care about, why am I going to take some high horse on others not getting the jab when I have a serious debate myself.

as I said before, I don't think just because you have a good immune system, you shouldn't get the vaccine. There is no shortage of vaccine or boosters, so "not taking it from someone who needs it" isn't really a concern.

we are still working to stop the spread and being vaccinated helps to stop the spread.

we are seeing issues there, but there is still data that shows it helps and that is all that matters.

Holy shit, man. The tinnitus is something else I hadn’t yet heard about. That’s a fresh hell I would be concerned about.

And I totally get the vaccine debate you have too. Wouldn’t it just be swell if we had sensical, logic based official policy that helped support the debate we all have?

But, we don’t. Shame of it is any form of social media could be an excellent tool to cut through the noise and help each other on our personal debate. How utopian I’m being (must be the lefty programming).

I’ve got my own internal debate, but yours is one I would really struggle with on what is the right call to make. On the one hand…you already have the 5G in you. On the other….I really struggle with putting something in me I might not need.

Lots of articles about Covid and Tinitus.

I do agree. It’s still out there. We still aren’t fully shielded as a whole. And I think most here would agree if being honest.

Where I see the division and dissension being is in the rigid and unyielding (and as often as not illogical) approach of public health policy.

It has me doubting if they truly have us on the appropriate track. Look, the science is there. It’s not perfect, but it’s there and it will continue to improve. I won’t bend on that.

It’s how we approach things like vaccine hesitancy in those that need it, as well as a frank position on who absolutely needs this and who doesn’t that would really start to help.

The concept that the vaccine as currently built can eradicate this bug is completely wrong and should be taken into account. If not, how can I continue to trust the wise advise from public health officials?

I respectfully disagree. The vaccine is mostly to keep people out of the hospital. I truly believe with a 90% vaccine rate and natural immunity - we stop seeing the deaths. It then turns into the flu thingy.
Sadly, I'm still seeing people at funerals almost weekly from this shit.
Omicron isn't a bad thing - I think this is what gets us to the herd immunity needed. I don't see a Covid winter 2022.

Like the flu and any other airborne virus - the only way to "stop the spread" is to wear masks and social distance but that isn't a plan going forward. we need to be fully vaccinated (and soon that will include the booster) and let herd immunity do its thing.

As long as we are populated the way we are, there will always be a new strain of something. Eventually, there is be something, whether it be bacteria, or viral, that will wipe out a good percentage of the populations. I love the people that think only something like this can be made up in a lab. These fucking microbes are the oldest life on earth, and have been changing and evolving for 100s of millions of years.

Even if the variants are looking to be weaker, it only takes one to change for the worse. This is Mother Nature's way of controlling population. It is a tried and true system, and it will come up with something to cull the herd.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

Is there a vaccine for the common cold corona virus that's been around for 100+ years?

No. So STFU
you don't take being corrected well, do you?

Not a response to me….but let me ask something. It is true there is no shortage of vaccines in this country. But, what about globally? There is that.

South Africa (where Omni was identified) has a vaccination rate of 6%. I’m not accepting that the virus mutations like Omni are driven by the vaccine. That’s not how it works. But, they have always been driven by a wide open, unprotected base of hosts for the virus to get established in and begin work to mutate.

My point….if we are applying the vaccine to truly at risk globally we are protecting the truly at risk to negative outcomes globally while this thing burns itself down to a cold through the rest of us that can take and kick it….including all the mutations it will go through to do it.

keeping people out of the hospital is part of it, but it has other benefits, including slowing the spread and giving the body the knowledge to beat COVID quicker if you are infected...in turn making you contagious for a shorter period of time
