2024 Natty discussion: tOSU vs ND

If OSU plays like they did tonight, we'll have a chance. Bunch of penalties, and the Howard INT. Hopefully everyone on the O-line can get healthy for ND.
ND needs to use the exact same defense Michigan did and Texas did against Jeremiah Smith. Bracket him and force the other guys to beat you.

If ND hadn't lost that big guy in the middle of your defense. White dude. Can't remember his name, but he was a problem for teams. Sucks he is out for you, as he'd be a problem for Ohio

Oregon beats that Ohio State team that played last night

Gives us a warm up game, please

More speculation

Oregon does not have the defensive backfield to do what Texas did.

Not sure ND has the safeties and DBs to do that. Texas defensive backfield played really really well other than one or two plays

Realistically. It is simply doubling Jeremiah Smith every play and making the other guys beat you.
Michigan's secondary had backups all over in the field and played without Will Johnson.

The problem with that defense is -- you HAVE to be able to control the LOS while rushing only 4. If you don't -- the team will run all over you.

ND lost a huge piece of their DL two games ago. My brother said he led the team in sacks as a DT. That is a big piece to be missing.

LOL you're simply such a Duck hater to say such a thing. Here is a fact, if Oregon has Penn State's path in the playoff this national championship game is Ohio State vs Oregon
Do you get at all how stupid you sound?

We are supposed to lament Penn State's path so that Oregon could get blown out in the title game instead of the second round?

Bro, we saw that match up and it was terrible. Delaying it wouldn't make it better.

ND has some studs in the secondary. Xavier Watts is an all American.

ND's strength, IMO, is there defense. Will they use that defensive strategy against Ohio is the question. It definitely works. You CANNOT cover Smith man to man. Kid is a freak. He'd be the #1 pick in the draft this year if he could go to the NFL

i mean, nobody gives a fuck if you make it to the championship game and lose.

Oregon had their chance against Ohio State and they lost. end of story. it doesn't matter if you lose in the quarterfinals or if you lose in the championship game..you still made it to the playoffs and lost. Great season, but you aren't the national champions.

now go fetch me a beer, boy.

I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion that OSU wins

ND has a very good team too, and Freeman is a better coach than Day
I don't buy that yet.. Don't get me wrong Freeman has done a remarkable job with ND.. but fuck man..he still lost to NIU

sure Day lost to UM and Oregon.. but one finished the season #1 and the other was a rivalry game.

Think Day has done a great job getting Chip on board and them using the portal to grab Will Howard. He got himself an experienced team.. what more can you ask at this point?? Besides winning it next week lol

I think they are very good, don't get me wrong, but the Texas safety duo is elite.

Texas still benefitted from quite a few drive killing penalties, some of them completely boneheaded (Henderson's and the OL who crushed the dude when forward progress was clearly stopped) Hopefully Ohio State doesn't do those things in the natty

True.

Maybe limit the amount of times they can transfer should be looked into.
They just need to move to a spring portal window only. Makes kids go through all of fall winter classes, avoids portal issues during the bowls, a one month period after spring ball where kids can transfer and roster needs are more well known to coaches.

Nah, this game is over. ND has no chance against an Ohio state team that decided to pass the ball to their elite receivers after the Michigan game.

A Buckeyes team that couldn’t defeat Michigan at home vs an arrogant program that eschewed joining the B1G. 🥱
No matter what happens, it was an absolute pleasure watching the Vols come up to Columbus and get ass blasted

No, Transitive Properties don't work in Football. ohio state started as the 8th seed. They had to play a pretty good Tennessee team before a well rested and prepared Oregon team. ohio state did what they had to do, while risking injuries and and a possible loss, while you got to watch the game and break down ohio state just before you played them. Oregon Failed. It's okay that Oregon failed because you were underdogs. Oregon squeaked out a win against ohio state in their home stadium. Get over it. Notre Dame and ohio state both deserved to be in the playoffs, and won every game on their way to the Championship Game. Oregon Didn't.

I have no problems with Notre Dame, and I hate ohio state, but I think I am rooting for ohio state. ohio state is a B1G Team and Michigan is firmly planted in Ryan Day's brain. Ryan Day's existence for the Holiday - Ryan Day Day - it falls on November 29th this year. ohio state couldn't beat a 1st year rebuilding, five loss Michigan Team (ohio state favored by 21 points), and the may be the Champions this year.

But...but...warmup game.

Oregon won by 1 point at home on a night Ohio State turned the ball over on the road twice and had over 70 yards in penalties. You got the job done, but there isn't anyone who would watch that game and think Oregon had the most overall roster talent. The Ducks played a more mistake free game and survived with a great 4th quarter.

Ohio State is clearly better across both lines and when they play mistake free there isn't a better lineup this year in college.

Thankfully for ND Ohio State struggles at time playing mistake free so there's always a chance.

Oregon wasn't going to beat Ohio State in any round without them falling apart. They have too much advantage on both lines man. It is what it is.

Daddy warbucks needs to invest more NIL on the lines and start getting some of those B1G level beef eaters if they want to make the next level. Same for all of the Pac teams that joined.

Michigan certainly could have been a little more stable this year at the QB, which probably would have notched us a couple more wins. But all things considered, our year was great.
Lmao
“Our year was great”

Apart from your Championship year your team has been mediocre as hell for more than 2 decades.

So yeah when you are used to that then 7-5 is a good year, congrats.

And I didn’t even mention the cheating scandal.
LMAO

Neat.

We get it. This is how you cope with a crap season. It helps ease your pain knowing that after Harbs left your program is in ruin, but hey at least you didn't lose every game that mattered.

If Ohio State hoists the trophy history will not remember which teams they lost to on the way there and no one following the team will care one bit.

But you go right ahead and sleep better if it helps.
It will be remembered as the game that woke Ohio state up. That’s it

How cute. I get it, you have nothing else to be happy about because your team can’t beat anyone.
