Big East Basketball

I just cant see how Neptune lasts beyond this year if they dont perform in BE play

Watching that game against Kstate was hilarious. Nova wins by 10+ if they are coached even a little bit. Instead its all iso ball and taking guys 1 on 1.

The talent is there, the coaching is not.

That last shot was almost comical. He wasn't even close to getting it off

And Ware getting switched onto Perry for kstate last possession. He was licking his chops on that.

The recruiting has just been downright weird.

It's like the past 10 years meant nothing.

Guess this gonna be a 3 bid league.

Hurley has done a great job with UConn. I thought their team this year was overrated

Not a chance at 3 bids.

5 is still the strong liklihood. 4 is the min.

I think the ship has sailed on this team as a whole shooting open 3s well(Stevie and SJ just stuck too bad at them)

But the next key will be guys who wear MU jerseys to stop being the only people apparently oblivious to the fact that Kolek is the best passer in the country. Hes putting on a fucking clinic and guys like Oso act like they have no idea he can pass

Its bizarre. Almost as if TK improving as a scorer wiped his passing from guys memories.

Either way, absolute joy to not be playing a Big10 team again.

They are so confusing to figure out. They'll have an okay resume because of Atlantis, but they've now taken 3 bad losses and a missed opportunity to pick up a potential Q1 win at KSU.

I mentioned upthread it's like a typical UK team. A lot of talent, not a lot of teamwork or consistency.

The transfers haven't meshed with the holdovers.

The bottom of the BE is horrendous this year, so going .500 in this conference ensure you take on more bad losses

On the flip you have a chance to stock pile wins(same for Prov and SJU) which def matters for resumes. When it comes down to taking a 8-12 conference team or a 12-8 one youll love having those Gtown freebies.

Having said that, Ive joked about it before but I am dead serious. BE should make up covid outbreaks when MU/CU/UCONN play Depaul and Gtown especially for home games. There is literally no benefit to the league even risking a disaster against locked in Q4 teams. I cant believe how bad DePaul is.

I thought the Gophers were bad last year and then there's this year's DePaul. My god. They're worse than Louisville last year, I think. Might rival the 3 win Oregon State team as worst P6 school ever.

DePaul vs Louisville saturday is hilarious scheduling.

DePaul is just a hapless program. Think like 2003 was the last time they made the tourney, they were still in the Conference USA. Their Big East life has been a complete mess all around.

Yeah, they haven't been good since the early 2000's. I remember them being very good and that was when CUSA was a legit conference with them, Louisville, Cincy and Marquette. Even a school like Charlotte was making the tournament routinely in that era.

Oregon State going from elite 8 to 3-28 was some crazy shit.

Northwestern has had a couple of terrible like 5 win teams too, but that Oregon State team is hard to beat.

I think one was in 99, they had a game where they scored under 30 points against Evansville.

DePaul used to be a damn near Blue Blood

Fucking incredibly sad demise for a program that has a massive recruiting base in Chicago. Its actually incredible really.

Yea 99-00 Northwestern

averaged 51 PPG (dead last in the country)

Scored 26 against Evansville and had another game where they scored 30 against Illinois.

The Oregon State team is worse record wise (3 wins to 5) but I think that NW team might had been worse overall.

It's crazy they can't get it turned around at all. They haven't even been close. It's a tough job, but it's got a great recruiting base and does have some tradition.

DePaul was probably a top 15-20 program (arguably even better than that) from 1943 to 1993. that's a fifty year span. they were a great program for a very long time and then....their program just died. it's insane to think about.
