Fields sucks...a thread for his apologists.

What do you define as a "running QB"? Lamar Jackson and Daniel Jones both just got big second contracts, and I'd definitely call both of them running QBs. Hell, Vick got two massive contracts in his career. If you don't let him run, then there's no reason to even keep him. You can't just take away one of his biggest strengths. He looks significantly worse this year than he did last year passing, but that's because he's being forced into being a full-time pocket passer which he never will be.
A QB who scrambles, rolls out or can get more than the occasional 7-yd scamper for a 1st down is not a running QB. There are plenty of QBs who know when to extend plays by leaving the pocket as it collapses -- they use their legs to do this. By contrast, a running QB is the sort of player who has the offense largely built around their ability to run the ball. They have a bunch of set QB plays, attract spies on defense and will throw the ball much less in clutch situations. An abridged list of examples:

Mobile QBs:
Randall Cunningham
Steve Young
John Elway
Steve McNair
Donovan McNabb
Kordell Stewart
Patrick Mahomes
Deshaun Watson

Running QBs:
Michael Vick
Cam Newton
Robert Griffin III
Tim Tebow
Lamar Jackson
Taysom Hill
Josh Allen
Justin Fields

I feel for the kid b/c he doesn't have much of an Oline and I don't think his coaches are doing a good job of putting him in the best position to succeed. Still, the QB film study breakdowns of Fields's play are pretty brutal.

Those are fair breakdowns. Where would you put Daniel Jones?

No one will be good in this offense.

If the begining of this season is how its gonna be rest of the year,Getsy and Fluss are pretty much goners.....

Who would call for Kmet to take a snap behind center at 3rd and 1 vs GB.....
Or
Throws a damn screen in the middle of our 5 yd line vs TB......

Theres probably more bad playcalling, but tjose two stick at the top for me....

Dude, the Bucs defense admittedly knew it was coming. Getsy ran the same play from the same formation 3 straight plays.

Its been mindnumbing.......those two clowns will be or should be jobless at the end of the season.....

And I say the end for the fact,no other coach is gonna come in and turn it around this year......

I cannot imagine Getsy will be keeping his job for the whole season. There is no way he's the best available option.

The "stupid-looking" category. Also Eli Manning, Matt Leinart, Doug Williams, Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz and Ben Roethlisberger.

"Hi Mom, I can haz football for score now?"

He most likely not the best option, but the best options wont come until the offseason......
If Poles is thinking right,he already knows this team is a mess and wont make the playoffs,so he may as well ride with what he has...
We keep losing,in which we will, hes gotta be licking his chops next draft....
2 top 5 picks is a very big possibilty, cause I dont see Carolina winning anytime soon either.....

Two top 5 picks will be nice, but they'll be wasted if he doesn't make changes. You already have Fields on the roster, so why not bring someone else in to work with him this year? You can either get him humming like he was last year so you don't need to draft another QB, or you can get his value up so you can try to trade him if you do want to draft another QB.

At any rate, it likely doesn't matter. The Bears will just fuck up another first round QB.

This QB draft class was hyped up as one of the best in years but so far it has fallen well short of that. I haven't really followed Fields since he was drafted so cant speak to his play but it seems only Lawrence has made any kind of impact thus far. Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Mac Jones. None of these seem to be on course to be NFL stars

That’s because NFL scouts continue to value the wrong things out of a QB. Success at QB isn’t determined by a big arm or superior athleticism. It’s about being able to see the field, recognize what’s happening and make quick decisions. Maybe that’s hard to recognize and evaluate, but that’s what makes great QBs great.

It might be the college game is much different now the way qbs play that it is hard to know if they can adjust to the NFL game

Hey- that's great news! Fields's shitty play was due to his defensive coordinator. Of course!

In a linked story, Fields blamed his coaches for how he's been playing:

You don’t see excuses like that from Lamar.

No sir.

That man has never overthought anything.

Some film breakdown of Fields...

To me, he lacks what a lot of young QBs lack, including Love, is anticipation. He can't anticipate a receiver breaking open and only throws after the receiver is open. Then, he has to make his reads again. Too late. Some QBs never make the jump.
That kills a lot of QBs in the NFL. The windows are just so narrow and the speed of the game is off the charts. It takes a special guy to do it well in todays game.
