Musicans/players all porpoise check in and bullshit thread

Led Zeppelin was for most of my life my favorite band of all time. I mean look at the talent there...Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John "Boom Boom" Bonham and the great John Paul Jones.

Freaking loved them and had all their albums and played them constantly throughout the years...I still do to this day....

So imagine my disappointment later in life when I discovered they ripped off other musicians music over the years and just about every song was plagiarized. That's cold blooded!

But why? The band had all that talent and yet needed to rip off other acts for their material? Were they just too lazy to create their own without stealing others work?

Pretty shitty ethics. Talented band that just never appealed to me, bot because of that, the music style just doesn't fit my tastes. For the British invasion groups, to me, they're way behind the Stones, The Who and Clapton.

I saw Clapton play once. I never picked up the guitar again....

After seeing the "guitar porn" thread (which is great, BTW), I thought I'd start something here so that all the music playas on this site could share some stories and what not. That way, we can keep the guitar porn site to just guitars, as I'm guessing it was meant to be.

Instrument(s): keyboards, hand drums, chromatic harmonica, guitar (not so much now because of focal dystonia)

Style(s): jazz, jazz-fusion, rock, blues, world

Primary Influences: Weather Report, ELP, Jan Hammer, Jeff Beck, Jean Luc Ponty

I played guitar for 25 years before focal dystonia in my right hand came along and said, "uh uh, you ain't doin' that no mores". After a nice bout of depression, I finally cut my losses and picked up keyboards (9 years ago) and hand drums (3 months ago, I bought my first bongos, but I've been kinda/sorta hand drumming for years and years without actually owning an instrument). I also started to dabble in chromatic harmonica; I still play it occasionally, but it is on the back burner these days.

Et toi?
Instruments: Guitar and bass. I play some keyboard, but am very novice.

Styles: Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Blues, I write some progressive stuff that I wouldn't classify as any of these.

Primary Influences: Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, Tool, Rush, SRV, BB King

I started playing bass when I was 15 years old and picked up guitar a year later. In my first band, we were just kids dicking around in our garages and I played bass.
Later on I formed another band with the guitar player from the other band, but I switched to guitar because I was already better than he was. We kept adding and replacing members until we were in our early 20's. Then we had a pretty solid lineup and we stared gigging. We lived in a small town, so we mostly just played parties and some bars. We did that for a few years but the singer went crazy and the drummer moved back to Cali and I got married. Some of the funnest times of my life.

Edit: Did I just accidentally write a sequel to a Bryan Adams song?

Damn, your edit stole my post

I played bass guitar in a rock band.

They do a killer comfortably numb too.

I could only make it one minute into that one.

Why would they get on stage if they don't know the song? The singer looks pissed, an the left guitar player looks like he's in a different dimension.

I know. And it’s not like he’s any better than the rest of them. My favorite part his him singing the echo parts. It gets me every time.

Two really bad, "Final Countdowns" and a guitarist getting slapped around.
