Texpectations: Longhorn Superthread

Maalik: Big guy. Big arm. But his throwing motion takes Soooo long. He looks like he’s throwing a 16lbs ball.
stop it.. he's fine..Byron Leftwitch had a bigger wind up and he did well in the pros

I can’t argue against this dunce’s point… this time.

Didn't watch the texas spring game. I was watching OU win another National Title in gymnastics. 6th title in 9 years. I will try and catch a reply of the texas spring game.

Arch Manning looked horrible. 14 pass attempts for 30 yards. It is way too early to call him a bust, but I have a feeling he will be a big flop. His last name drove up his recruiting ranking.

It appears Sark has already determined Arch will portal.

too bad people were celebrating another UT women's rowing national championship...

Arch isn't ready to be a starting in D-1. If you struggle in a spring game scrimmage against your teammates playing vanilla defenses -- you are not ready.
lol he would have started for y'all a year ago in Dallas

He was a big fish in a small pond, beating up on 3A schools and their level of talent. If he expected to start as a true freshman then he's in for a rude awakening. He knows he isn't ready for this speed yet. Next spring will be when he bolts if he isn't able to compete for the starting job.

lol, he was ALWAYS going to redshirt.. if he wanted to play ASAP he would have chosen a different school to be attending

and I agree about next spring.. it's going to be him vs Maalik

You are talking as if Texas has an elite QB, so he was going to be sitting no matter what. Ewers completed less than 60% of his passes and was ranked outside the top 50 in QBR, this while having the best running back tandem in the country to take pressure off him.

Arch is going to redshirt because he doesn't look like he is even remotely ready to play at the D-1 level, not because it was ALWAYS the plan.:pound:

wow it's like you can't improve after year 1 starting... interesting

guess Maalik was written off last spring since he couldn't even play it

You are the one trying to say the plan was ALWAYS to redshirt Arch, as if Texas was set at QB with a returning all-american or something. Ewers was average at best. When you sign "the #1 overall recruit in the nation", the LAST THING he is thinking is, I'm going to redshirt.

From watching the Spring Game -- Arch will need more than a redshirt to get acclimated to the college game and it shows that his name is why he was the #1 recruit more than anything else. It also has to be alarming to Texas fans to have not one, but two #1 overall nationally ranked QB recruits on your team and neither looks like anything special.

The elite QB's typically are that during their first year starting. Not saying Ewers can't get better, but he needs to be a lot better to live up to his ranking. He was pretty awful the 2nd part of last year.
