tOfficial Amazon Thread

Ok so Head Country barbecue sauce is the best barbecue sauce in the world.

I was researching it and I can buy 4 bottles from them directly and with shipping its $40 bucks. Ok I'm tempted but Cookies and Sweet Baby Ray's are a quarter of the cost at the grocery store. So I checked Amazon. I can get 6 bottles which is basically a year supply for $14.99 and that's with shipping.

I'm trying to say fuck Amazon but when it's cheaper and more convenient to go there versus driving to Wal Mart this is a problem.

Good share! I see the problem as well.

They’ve struck onto a formula that is fast becoming superior to standard grocery and consumer good shopping. Once they reached a critical mass of shipping need they could offer the better deal. They were smart to start moving to their own shipping when they did with how the transportation industry is challenged like it has been lately. Not to mention they had a pandemic and quarantine fall into their lap.

They are offering a hell of a service, but they are certainly big enough to worry about.

Just don’t look at the Amazon price.

I’ll never give them a dollar. I also don’t shop at WalMart though.

I've been pretty good about Walmart. Only thing I've bought there in the last 14 years is a grill. That's because my gf had a gift card with $75 on it.


I whore out for Amazon, though. I'm doing a better job of shopping local if possible, but if it's between Target, Kroger, Meijer, Menards, or Amazon, I don't really care

Meijer is a local, family owned business.

They get my money.

The time factor is the biggest problem. For basic goods it's either a minute on Amazon or I drive to Wal Mart and take the time to buy it in person.

The catch is I'm either buying local and wasting my time going to Wal Mart or I'm a click away from spending an afternoon collecting my thoughts. It's a real conundrum.

I’ve never bought a tangible item on line. Never bought anything at WholeFoods and don’t want a camera on a doorbell. I don’t even have a door bell with a doorbell on it. Just knock. Hell, say knockknock as you let yourself in, that’s cool.

Yeah they are.

Hank and Doug. Their Dad, Fred owned it for decades. They grandpa Hendrik, my great grandpas barber, founded it. In Greenville. Headquarters have moved about twenty five miles, to Walker since then.

It’s a local family business.

Oh, local to you. Understood. Also part of why I'd go with Donatos if getting chain pizza, Kroger for groceries, etc

Menards is a local family owned business to me too. Great Lakes en sech. Home Depot can blow me.

When I buy a house, I'll probably just use whichever place gives me the best credit card rewards (though right now, I tend to go to ACE, if possible)

I don’t have any credit cards.

Our mortgage is with the small, local bank. Lol

Looked at dealing with Quicken, but Dan Gilbert is a mega douche.

They treat their workers like absolute trash so their customers can save $1 on a pack of pens. It's awesome.
