The thought of Hollywood and Washington insiders getting paid millions to preach their elitest bullshit to the literary public makes me sick. I think the most laughable of all might be Jim Carey getting all superior and philosophical on us. :puke:

I don't think I would call McConaughey a Hollywood insider...at least not where he started. He told some pretty damn funny stories in the book. He lived in a camper most of his career, even after he made it

Just finished The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler ( actually a pen name for a husband/wife team). Could have been a good story, but was Way too long; way too boring. They’d go into the most minute details sometimes of something so mundane that had nothing to do with the story.

Would not recommend
 
Book #9 by the Gears. People of the Lakes. Takes place around 100 AD I think. ~800 pages.

There is an evil mask. And an intricate journey up to the Roaring Waters. Between the 2 Fresh Water Seas.

Vicious residents to pass through, curious crew on board the canoe. Including Killer of Men and an idiot Contrary Dreamer.

These books have been perfect for my Omicron excursion.

Looking forward to #10.

I'm almost through The Skystone by Jack Whyte set in 5th-century Britain.

Been unable to find him. But am searching.

I can easily get or borrow all the Gears.
 
I just finished Mindhunter by John Douglas. I figured if the show isn’t coming back might as well read the book much of it was based on.

It was an exceptional read. Mostly when he gets into how they developed and used profiling. Admittedly, I told myself near its finish I’m going to treat myself to a light read next.

They talk about how hard it is to do this work for long because it’s so heavy. I got enough of taste reading this that I believe it.

finished my latest trash fantasy series, The Iron Druid Chronicles...need to find my next on where there are a bunch of books already out there and I can just pick one up when I don't feel like reading anything else...thinking it might be the Sandman Slim books...I think that series is almost done too.

listening to Razorblade Tears, which is this revenge action movie in a book where a stereotypical white redneck and a black dude, both of which did time in jail, are out to find the killers of their gay sons, who were married.

lots of spotlights on white people being racist and black people being homophobic...and a lot of Sons of Anarchy kind of action.

not too bad. Looks like they will be making it into a movie, so I keep thinking who I would want to see playing the fathers...thinking Woody Harrelson and the boxing dude from the Wire

Interesting read. A guy who has lived for over 400 years with another 500 or so to go.

I read The Midnight Library by him and have had his other books on my to read list for a while, but never got around to them.

if you want a good time travel/alternate timeline book, check out Blake Crouch, either Dark Matter or Recursion
 
As I'm always in a search for authors and generally read everything they put out if I like them, I'm going to cruise through Haig's work first. Library has all of them.

Then I'll zoom back to Crouch.

I've still got 13 or so of those Indigenous books to go.
