What are your thoughts on R.E.M.?

Both of our musical tastes have evolved considerably since that time. Now you're much more likely to hear us both listening to Avatar than either of us listening to The B-52's or Outkast.
 
Im not big fan of theirs, but I have 3 or 4 of their songs in playlist.
 
They're from Athens, GA. Athens, GA is one of my favorite places on this planet. I like a lot of local bands more than I probably should because they're local(Zac Brown Band, Blackberry Smoke), but I just can't get into REM. One of their members has a side project that opened for Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam and Steve Earle that wasn't too bad, but I can't remember the name of the band and it didn't inspire me enough to look more into it.

I see them as pretty much the American version of U2, not gonna appeal to me.
 
I used to rock Automatic for the People, Document, and Out of Time quite a bit. They’re solid, but not really a band I go back to much these days.

U2 is one of those bands that was very commercially successful, but I don't think I've ever encountered anyone that admits to liking their music.

People do like them though. I think they’re one of those inspirations for people who want to make it big at something without actually being good at the thing.
