Appropriate times to bunt

I expect my 6 hole batter to have some pop and driving in runs, not bunting for a single
Play the short game then and swing for the fences. I'll play small ball and get runners on for my guys who are scarier when the pitchers has to go from the stretch and he's focusing on a base runner.

You need a couple of hits to get that run, but I only need one bunt to change the defense the rest of the game.
Unless the team is fine with giving up a bunt single, which most are. I always laughed at the people that thought David Ortiz was a genius for bunting against the shift. Pretty sure the opposing team was perfectly fine with that outcome

Plus pitchers hate it when someone does the random bunt against them. Now I'm in their head, with a speedster on first. Oh yeah, and he can only throw over twice to keep him honest. And don't fume too long, the pitch clock is running.

You can do a lot by getting a runner on base.

Most teams aren't going to be fine giving up a bunt single any time the other team wants it. So they will play the corners up a step. A step is all I need to get a ball down the line or over his head.

And then you’re down 6-0 before you know it because you’d rather bunt than hit dingers

Sounds like now you have pitching and defense issues that no amount of bunting is going to solve.

And then Sean Murphy just catches them trying to steal and you wasted a shot at an extra base hit

If a player in my lineup tries to bunt for a hit and gets thrown out, I’m benching his ass

Left handed hitter vs a left handed pitcher who falls off the mound. Bunt towards to 1st/2nd base hole. Pitcher out of position to cover 1st.

Too many variables to limit strategy.

It's all cyclical. It will be back, and the first time to do it will look like geniuses.
I doubt it in the launch angle and exit Velo era. Stolen bases will definitely be coming back, but I doubt bunting will with the analytics

Because baseball is a team GAME and you can manipulate the defense and take control of the game/series by having a strategy that is more than "swing as hard as you can".
Carry on

You really gonna trust a catcher to get a good bunt down? That has hard bunt right back to pitcher and a tag out at third written all over it
Garrett Stubbs bunts whenever he damn well likes.

Pretty slick with two outs. I’d still rather have the 3 run Dinger.

Our resident retard on the Braves board prefers sac flies to rbi hits, so this is still a step in the right direction

If I’m a pitcher and I have any inkling that the hitter is thinking about bunting, I’m throwing some high and inside heat
