Appropriate times to bunt

It's pretty apparent you don't care about the game. You just wanna see balls fly over your head.
I care about winning, and I trust the analytics that say bunting with position players is bad

Striking out trying to park every pitch is worse.

It's a multifaceted game. Small ball is part of it. Dingers are part of it.

Would you prefer the ball on a tee?

Nah, ball on a tee eliminates walks. 3 outcome baseball is the only real baseball

There was one time Dusty tried to get Dunn to bunt with 2 on, down 1 in the 9th and Dunn hit a walk off homer instead.

Big Bob Robertson somewhat famously missed a bunt sign in a playoff game and hit a three run homer for the Pirates. Can't remember the exact details.

edit: here we go, I wasn't sure if it was well known enough for me to be able to quickly find a write up, I shoulda known

Homers, walks and strikeouts. Swing for the fences, but also have good plate discipline
Bored Christopher Walken GIF

Boring.

There are like 7 different ways for a batter to reach base.
Hit
Walk
HBP
Error
Dropped strike 3
Fielders choice
Catchers interference

Adds up, but I like instant runs

And there’s 65 ways to make an out. Sal is a rain delay radio legend

Hitting .220 while hitting 30 HRs sucks. Give me a .280 hitter with 20 HRs.

I think there are 8 ways now because of the pitch clock.

Need more info. What’s the OPS?
Of course you do. That's why saying HRs is the target is bull. Scoring runs is the target. BABIP to me is a more telling stat. Strikeouts and walks put almost zero stress on the other team. Strike out 35% of the time to homer 5% of the time is a losing proposition.

Not according to analytics. Walks are very important, they wear down a pitcher and get runners on in front of the homers. BABIP is largely luck, and if you strikeout 100 times in a row and then leg out an infield single, your BABIP over that 101 AB stretch is 1.000.
