NL East Smack Talk

They should be able to protest that the home plate umpire didn't correctly rule that Conforto made no attempt to get out of the way. Even the Mets broadcast crew pointed that out.
They should be able to on something as egregious as this. But has a protesting a call ever actually done anything in baseball? I can't think of a time they actually reversed a call afterwards. And then what? Are they going to pick the game back up tomorrow in the ninth with two outs and the bases loaded?

Wouldn't have to be tomorrow, but basically, yeah. They'd say that it should have been ruled a strike (if they correctly rule it), and pick up play with the bases loaded and 2 outs.

Apparently, they can review hit by pitches, but not the intent to move out of the way. It was clear as day to that he leaned into it. I mean the umpire literally called it a strike originally, before he realized Conforto was hit.

In college its the exact opposite issue. Umps will bring hitters back immediately if they don't make an effort to get out of the way.
Heard this the other day (the take was on football, but holds the same here)....isn’t “this isn’t allowed to be reviewed”.

Why the fuck not???

Lettuce revisit this later.
Tom Hanks Hello GIF

You’re talking to a retard that doesn’t understand you can’t just option players to minors an unlimited amount of times. Or that a manager can’t throw out the same bullpen piece every single night. (No matter how much Kapler wants to).

So it’s easy to understand his inability to grasp what “later” means.

Braves outright Jeff Mathis. Pretty amazing that a guy with an OPS+ of 48 managed to play 17 seasons.

Meanwhile, Drew Butera's played 12 seasons with a 49 OPS+.

What happened to the Mets last night? Giving up 20 runs?

The Mets have gotten worse since acquiring Baez. For an offense with potential, especially having Pete Alonso, they sure suck most of the time.

The Mets' problem is their pitching. Today was their first nine-inning loss where they held the opponent to 4 or less runs in like 3 weeks. Only other time they lost a game was when they lost a seven-inning DH game to the Braves 1-0.

You're not going to win a lot of baseball games when you have to score 5+ runs every time out there.

Fucking scumbag Nats going down the Michael Conforto road. Tres Barrera chased a pitch with his elbow to get a HBP and tie the game.

Atleast this one wasn’t a strike

Interesting tidbit mentioned in last night's Braves/Mets telecast....the NL East has 3 managers with World Series titles. Can any other division claim this? Do we count the AL Central's 3 (Hinch)?
