Seriously???
A push mower.

Gotta ask..... ever had a mower that wasn't self propelled??

Always get what you want. No way you want that.
my current mower is not self propelled

Not self propelled certainly will last a long time, but a good self propel will as well. My personal pace never gave me any issues except once I had to replace the pulley (3 minute job) because the belt it comes with is kevlar. Never once in 18 years had to replace the belt, but it did wear out the pulley after 10 years.

And how do you like that?
Would you buy another if you had the means to buy self propelled??
I never would. I don't like the set speeds most come with, that's why I like personal pace. when I slow down, it does. If I speed up, it does. Don't have to worry about releasing a second bail because I need to turn around.

doesn't really bother me. I am in good shape, so providing my own power ain't no thang.

but I get the self-propelled love. I would go that route next time

I could see that being an issue
The Honda I have has a variable speed, it's just set up different than the 'personal pace'.
Ah, I didn't even looked at Honda when I bought my new one this spring. Is it variable via a dial of some sort? I just don't like all of the different levers to pull and hold while mowing. MTD (makers of craftsman/troybilt/yardman/etc) thought they solved that years ago with the front wheel self propelled, and it was a major failure. :pound:

my personal pace is absolutely fine

My yard is a slight hill, enough we had to have a 3' retaining wall built on the east lot line to level out the side yard. That with st Augustine grass, push mower would suck.

If I had a flat yard, push wouldn't be too bad for a 1/3 acre housed lot.

I can't say if all Honda's have it, but mine does.
The lever that turns the mower off, I have clamped down so I can walk away from it and it keeps running.

But mine has a small lever you use your thumbs on. You can adjust it, but really no need.
Just faster or slower when3ever you want.

fucking lazy ass people can't even push a mower on their own for a half hour these days.

sad

Hey, I'll own it. I'm lazy. our mowing season runs April-November with it being 90+ for 4 of those months, so the name of the game is get it done as fast as you can.

love me some Northern Tool, they always have competitive prices
Yeah, when they decided to diverge from the Harbor Freight "nothing but Chinese crap" model they became a real option for me. When I got my Stihl battery blower, that's where I went.

And I love that they stock harder to find hardware that places like Ace used to. Things like wheels and casters and parts for pressure washers.

Went to lunch and bought the Troybuilt.

It just hit me that the reason I bought my first one was I had an expense Husqvarna mower that broke, took it to get fixed, brought it home and the first pull the cord snapped. I freaking lost it sent that thing rolling into the woods, marched straight to Lowes and bought the cheapest mower they had just to get my yard cut (didn't even realize it wasn't self-propelled as I was just seeing red). I fully expected to replace it in a month.

That lawnmower was still going strong after 10 years and it never bothered me that I had to push it in fact sometimes it is an advantage in my opinion. Why mess with that?

I was all set to upgrade and drop $500 but I don't think I could be happier with what I used to have so I went and bought as close to it as I could get.

It's weird but this thread really gave me clarity on this issue and that almost never happens on the Hoop.
