Show yer Pet's ugly mug...

My son is allergic to anything with fur. And I'm sick of cleaning fish tanks and I hate birds.

No more pets at the PackJason residence.
I made my wife promise that after the two we have, are gone, no more until we are old, and no one visits us, and we cant travel. Then I want to get a Min pin, and train him to be the meanest little motherfucker that ever lived.

Most I'm ever away from home is an overnight.

We leave a big bowl of kibble for each, 3 water bowls and the litter box sits for 48...

We are starting to travel now as a couple. After having our first child at 20 years old, we have done everything backwards and the hard way.

Plus picking up dog shit hurts me to my core.

is that true? Or is that just what you told them ;)

Unfortunately, it's true.

Most time when people are allergic to cats, they are allergic to the cat saliva. Cats lick themselves, their spit dries and flakes off. It triggers my son's asthma.

It's a real bummber because he loves animals but can't get closeto any except fish, birds, and reptiles. You know, the fun ones ...

Nah, man, you did shit the right way. You had way more energy at 22 to chase a toddler around and run a full day off two hours of sleep than you would've had in your 40s.

We had Brent when I was 25. But I've never had travelling shoes. When I'm on vacation doing nothing but a bit of golf, the odd swim in the lake, lots of BBQing, etc is more than good enough for us.

I worked all day, came home and the wife went off to school. It was grueling for a while.

For sure. There are a lot of sacrifices parents have to be willing to make when you start a family in your early 20's. Those sacrifices build character and wisdom, though; not only in you but your kids too.

You and I are in the same situation, my friend. Started families in our early 20's and just had our youngest graduate high school. Now it's "us" time with the spouse and excited for it. I'll also be doing a lot more traveling with the wife now - starting in September when we drop our daughter off at college amid a 2-week journey through the eastern U.S.

And me, personally, when my younger brothers bring their two year olds over to my place, I'm really glad I can send them back where they came from because I don't have the energy or willpower to deal with that shit 24/7 anymore.

To be fair, I never had the energy to look after nieces and nephews long term when I was in my 20's.

You must just get that energy or fake it when it's your own kids.

I made it clear to my brother and future sister in law that I won’t babysit my niece until she can wipe her own ass. And even now, if she starts crying, I hand her back to her mama

This is when I say we will never have an empty nest.

And likely never any grandchildren to babysit.

It's nature versus society. Nature says to have kids when you are young and healthy. Society says don't have kids until your careers are set.

Neither is wrong, but Probably one of the coolest things I ever got to do was play flag football, with my son when he turned 18. I was 38, and still playing. That was my last season. Never could have done that if I had him when I was 25 to 30.
