Happy Season 9 GIF by The Office
I was looking forward to seeing how USA hockey is stacking up to other countries when everyone is using their best players. Not sad we're skipping China, though.

Tanev out for the year. That really blows…

Seth Jones is reportedly among the Blackhawks placed in COVID-19 protocols ahead of their game against the Blue Jackets. :L

What happened to the Islanders and Canadiens? Last year they were really good teams and this year they are both two of the leagues worst teams.

The Coyotes did everything in their power in the offseason to be as bad as possible this year and the Habs still lost to them by three goals.

Did the Coyotes ever figure out where they are moving to?

Btw, fucking Canada ruining everything. Just put your people in internment camps and get it over with, fucking losers.

I’m a fan of stars staying with their teams their whole careers but let’s get McDavid and Draisaitl outta Edmonton please.

For years I have wanted to get into NHL because for years I have tuned into the playoffs and they are very entertaining. But I never got around to following it because it just was never on TV for me.

But now, this year with most games being on ESPN+ and the Kraken being on a local channel, I have been able to watch hockey and this is such a fun league. I am still trying to figure things out, I am sort of getting the hang of the rules, I don't know much about the positions or players, other than the typical household names, but the sound of the sticks, the puck, the skates, it's damn addicting.

The point system still doesnt make sense to me, why not use just wins and losses? Why even have the point system? I know points and wins sort of go together, but why not just stick with W's and L's?

I'm trying to find a team to become a fan and follower of. I've always liked the Oilers for some reason, I like the Blackhawks because their logo and uniform used to be what the Winterhawks had, so growing up I had Winterhawk stuff but it could've been mistaken for Blackhawks. I like the Penguins, but feel they are such a solid franchise it would be bandwagon. Kraken make sense since they are somewhat local and I am determined to make it to a kraken game either this season or next and I can watch all of their games without going to ESPN+. As for a bad team I could support, so to not look like a bandwagon, I have a soft spot for the Sabres since I just always seem to find myself rooting for the Buffalo sports market.

Yeah, I have said it for a while now, but the NHL playoffs are the best. They are the most exciting postseason of all sports in my opinion.

So you get 2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, and 1 point for an overtime loss. Idk the actual reason, I assume the 1 point is given to make overtime competitive and demonstrate how close teams actually are to other teams.

The rules are super easy to get, just keep watching. I am sure any of us could explain any of the rules, but I am not about to just start typing them out lol.

As for a team to root for, I suggest the Vegas Golden Knights lol. They are still pretty close to you in proximity and have been through quite a bit in such a short time. In their inaugural season, they went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, when initially, no one thought they would even make playoffs. You can youtube announcers talking about the preseason and no one saw that level of success coming. Since then, they have made the playoffs every year and only losing in the first round once on bad referee-ing (the NHL even addressed it after the fact). Lol, that game 7 still bugs me.

But no, root for whoever. I am a VGK fan, but I still consider myself a fan of the Isles, Blackhawks, and Pens. You like who you like, if anything, be a bandwagon of players you like rather than the team itself.

Oh I forgot to mention the VGK. I like them, I was rooting for them the times they made the cup, especially that first season.

My favorite player is Marchessault. and my favorite goalie is Fleury, who’s now with the Blackhawk’s.

Also forgot to mention I’ve always liked the Sharks. Back in the early 90s they were more or less the “local” team, and I had a banner of theirs. I just realized there are a lot of likeable teams in the NHL, but I guess I probably have a lot of likeable teams because I haven’t been following NHL all that long to grow a disdain for a team. Haven’t had the time or emotion to get upset over a team winning.

Then there’s the Flyers, old school franchise with a lot of history and passion, but haven’t won a cup in a long time.

Lots of options. Maybe I should just wait and see who I end up liking as I continue to watch the games.

1. Fuck the Sharks.

2. I miss Fleury. Marchessault is good and i like his hustle. Karlsson is another good, probably underrated guy. He isn't the most spectacular, though he does have some spectacular plays, but he is a strong team player.
