im only asking. im a fan of schools i went to or have affiliations with. i just cant understand being a fan of a school you didnt go to, or have ties to. i just dont.

and you need to eat to survive, so thats a shitty reply.

i just never understood being a fan of say, duke basketball, if you didnt go to duke, or say, Nebraska football if you dropped out of the 8th grade.

I went to a small school with no football so i guess I shouldn't watch College football at all.
why should i be a fan of Oregon when i grew up in Eugene? I didnt go there so i shouldnt be a fan right?
and im from Oregon so i should automatically be a Blazers fan right? is that how it works? ps im not

in theory its how it should work. i just always stuck with what i have here. boston or bust. local all the way. and im a fan of schools i went to or have ties to.

so boston or bust and schools you have ties to so why wouldnt an oregon local be a fan of Oregon even if they didnt go there?

local pro sports (thus my prior reference to the patriots). but im a fan of the schools i went to (and the one my mom taught at)

but like i said i went to an NAIA school that doesnt have football so what should i not enjoy college football? should i not enjoy DI basketball and March madness?

i just assume you would be a fan of the closest team, regionally. its why all of the old timers up here are giants fans.

We are the measuring stick of all college football.

Don't believe me? Just pay attention to how often Auburn comes up in the conversation and is used to measure other teams. Be sure it's a burden but we've learned to bear it.

What that measuring stick is telling you is that you suck.

I know Georgia Tech grads that are diehard UGA fans.

It’s what you grow up with, and it’s on national television. I didn’t go to UGA, but a lot of my close friends did. Not hard to make a connection if you want that requirement

yeah, and i get that. again, its probably where i am from. i cant relate top not having something regional and pro to root for.
 
As a child, me and my dad would watch every NASCAR race, every UFC fight, most every Braves game and every UGA game that was televised(and listen to the games that weren’t).

I honestly didn’t know Atlanta had an NFL team until the 99 Super Bowl.
