2021 season thread

Newman runs 30th, so probably no big payday. Looks like Harvick just has a top 10 car. Hopefully some tire or fuel strategy pays off
 
I guess the best car won. Missed the setup to start the race, but Truex definitely had the best car at the end.

Truex closing in on 30 career wins, btw. pretty solid number considering the less than ideal start to his career

and man, every week r/NASCAR makes about 1,000,000 excuses for Bubba. it's hard to read the race discussions on that subreddit because every tenth comment is some neckbeard making an excuse for him. until he proves it on the racetrack, nobody cares, bro.

Truex is right there with Kyle Busch and Harvick for the top drivers since 2015. Wasted too many years at the corpse of DEI and as MWR’s second priority.

If Bubba couldn’t win a single Busch race in the same ride Trevor Bayne was able to win in and the same ride Ricky Stenhouse dominated in, he’ll never win a Cup race unless it’s at a plate track or some Casey Mears style fuel mileage win.

But he probably could have got a top 10 today, but his crew chief made a stupid call of staying out on a track where tires matter big time

He had just been penalized for speeding on pit road. His crew chief made the call hoping Bubba stays in the top 10 until another caution. I would probably make the same call, it just did not work.

Unless it’s a track where tires don’t mean much, I’m never a fan of being the only car staying out
 
A slight dip in ratings for Phoenix. Second most watched sporting event of the weekend behind some golf deal, but ahead of the B1G basketball championship game
 
Atlanta this week. Every drivers favorite track, but one of the worst according to fans. Might be better if they had some of those great finishes the track used to be known for with the high horsepower package instead of this low horsepower bullshit
 
Lebron James just bought into Fenway, which means he’s a part owner of Roush-Fenway along with the Boston Red Sox and some soccer team
 
I hate Justin Allgaier. Seems every time the driver I get on in the Busch Series finishes second, it’s Allgaier that wins the race.
 
I missed this yesterday, they were throwing real punches. Gragson likes punching JGR drivers

Gragson was doing an interview when Hemric showed up lol

Honestly Gragson should gotten in trouble with Nascar for what he did.

He backed up from his pit stall to hit Hemrics Car in his pitstall while they were doing a pitstop with crew members changing tires.

Nascar said no penalties were gonna be given. In the cup series fucking around on pit lane is a huge no no. So I really dont understand this ruling.

I didn't understand that either. I think Gragson is a douche, but I'll give him credit, when another driver wants to go, he's down, and he's not just pushing or hiding behind his pit crew, he's throwing punches, though the punch he threw when Hemric was being held was a bit cheap IMO.
 
Chase Elliott just blew up. Makes the rest of the race worth watching in case it’s an issue with Hendrick engines. If not for stages, Larson would have the whole field lapped
 
That’s gotta sting for Larson. Dominant car, longest run on a set of tires all race and it faded too much at the end, and Logano holding Larson up and then moving over for Blaney was pretty cheap
 
But I know the drivers love the track, but Atlanta is just a snooze fest these days. Don’t even get the great finishes you used to get here
